Well Ben... I'd rather shoot nudes, than photograph anorexic stick figure girls and I don't shoot nudes.
Both become cliche in the abuse of women for commercial success.

If a woman is sexy, she'll still be sexy, with her cloths on.
if a woman is half starved to death, feed her, don't photograph her...

If you can't take a photo of a normal sized woman, with her cloths on, and make her look/feel sexy, re-think your line of work.

But maybe that's just me.. there certainly is no line of agents/agencies/models/designers/advertisers beating down my door.

getting the books for starts is good... but here's a practical tip for learning:
many tools in photoshop have sliders... try moving the sliders from one extreme to the other and look for results. it gets easier to understand what the tool does that way....

Poppies are also known for producing opium. I often wondered why Mcrae was lying in the middle of a battle torn cemetary, picking flowers and writing poems.... but humor aside..

My family served in many conflicts and Remembrance Day is a small reminder that we "Never Forget" their sacrifices.

"Paschendale" is an excellent Canadian film for those looking for something to watch tonite!

When you get to photograph a band that hasn't toured for 20 years & you get a one of the few photo passes available. Make sure you set your body to take the largest size jpeg possible & is not set to the minimum size which is useless for your photo agency or anybody else!!!!
Ouch, it's incidents like this (although not quite such amazing oportunities) which caused me to institute my current policy. My policy is that my camera only has one image size setting, raw. On very rare occasions I can be convinced to use maximum size, maxium quality JPG, but since getting the K10D I will generally shoot raw and process in camera in preference to this.
I never change the settings but had friends round & wanted to show then the shutter speed of my GX20 in jpeg mode, then forgot to reset it to RAW.... DOH!!!!

Never mind it was only Fleetwood Mac, might catch them again in another 20 years
I was worried they'd never tour again... Stevie Knicks gained all that weight, and Christine McVie seemed to disappear.... I thought Stevie ate her... glad hear she's ok...

So what item will be on your present list that would transform your photography?

For me it has to be a spirit level to keep my horizons level.

Christmas spirits usually have me level like the horizon... but binge drinking aside, here's an upgrade pentax can offer for the k-7, kx...

you got the camera in video mode on a tripod, you then set a primary focus point, a secondary focus point, and a duration, so when the shutter is pushed, a nice rack focus shot is achieved.

also a programable focus and zoom shot done with the old power zoom lenses for programable "Zolly" or zooming while dollying shots.

Those two features would make the video capable slrs a truly useful alternative to 35mm video adaptors for videographers...

a great way to attract new Pentax customers, from video making communities.

on the other hand Chis knows his Animal Rescue Squad from his elbow...

One will survive, the other won't...

there are many good dealers around that are Pro Dealers, Park are one, SRS are another, plenty of recommendations from here. I do encourage people to use their local dealer but if they act like cameramarts then they will not flourish
Might just as well go to Hollywood to get acting advice from a waitress a at greasy spoon... sure she thinks she's an actress.....but...

actually that circiut looks kinda familiar... how about soldering a pc socket cable to a miniphono plug and plugging a flash slave (wein) into your camera's remote release socket?
