Can't offer any advice on the PP, but very much looking forward to your Sri Lanka photos! I spent a fantastic three week honeymoon there in 2003, one week in decadent luxury in the Galle Face hotel, and two weeks backpacking along the South and East coasts. Really wonderful country

I've already commented on flickr & being lazy I'll just copy & paste it over here.
Mike, I just had a quick look at this in photoshop & there is buckets of detail to be eeked out of the mist.
I'm not sure how it'd work from Raw, but try dialling down the exoposure & boosting the contrast, essentially exposing for & developing the mist. The mountain in the background will also be drawn out..
Then go B&W I'd say, the green isn't adding anything so why not take it out of the equation ?

in camera, the way to deal with fog/mist is to overexpose... open up a stop or two over the camera reading...
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

I like the changes but I also like the wires and pylons. To me they give a sense of scale and of vulnerability of what looks like a fabulous country. I also like green.

Anyway the point here is that I did a quick and dirty levels adjustment and I think I have robbed the mist of some of its fluffiness for want of a better way to put it. What steps should one take to keep the essential mistiness of such shots in PP?

PS While I was shooting this as 6 am a monk was chanting somewhere in a deep booming voice, hopefully an unforgettable experience.
