Someone sent me a series of stunning images. Had to compile them into a small album and here they are

I am starting to get ideas now I assume a standard wide angle lens would do for this, am I right?
I find them stunningly beautiful, hope you like them.

Lovely stuff Amin but they weren't all taken with a wide angle.

Jack.

Hi Jack

I am assuming that it is still possible to get images of lightning anyway with a standard lens, right?

I am rather proud of my one and only lightning image.

Not sure if you are aware Amin but your lens has been posted.

Yes but it got rejected along with a message saying they thought I submitted a underexposed picture with a hair on it by mistake.

There is something definitely more than just the hair on it Mike. I can see on the left a part of the image that looks like almost could make it worth for the PPG gallery. Can't still make out what it is, can you please help clarify what it is?

It is easy to build a lightning trigger that sees through the VF.
That way it only triggers when the lens sees lightning.

expensive though...
my tips for lightning..
dawn or dusk is best...
catch the storm as it's rolling in towards you..
point the lens where there is some activity....
get your exposure and use multiple exposures...
9 - 3 sec exposures should catch a strike or two per image... tripod, cable release...
don't focus on just sky, get something interesting in foreground for scale.

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

It's not that expensive to DIY one. It will all fit in a small experimenters boxx. And can even attach to the hotshoe too. The only thing outside the box is power and the LDR.

Ouch, look at the price.

That circuit is definitely giving me ideas , thanks for that greyhoundman.

And I think I am in a perfect area of London for lightnings here , so ideas taking shape now
