The Spotmatic lenses will be an M42 mounting, that's a 42mm screw thread. All Pentax cameras since the Spotmatic use a bayonet mount, Pentax K or PK mount.

You can use the older M42 mount lenses on the PK mount cameras by using a mount adapter like this link. (You can sometimes pick them up second hand cheaper than this but the genuine pentax is generally best)

That's one of the advantages of the Pentax cameras, with the adapter you can use almost every SLR lens Pentax have ever produced on the latest Pentax cameras although there are some limitations. Obviously the auto focus will not work and you can only use the camera in manual exposure mode with the M42 lenses.

The spinning of the GPS unit is to calibrate the compass. Without the compass the GPS can only tell you where you are, not which direction you are pointing.

Here is the astrotracer in action. link I'd love to have a play with one but unlikely at the price they are.

Super set. As George said above, really shows the textures.

Personal favorites, The first African Grey Parrot and the Snowy Owl is fantastic!

I'm not a member but there is a camera club in Thatcham. link
I think you have to join the football club as well as that is where they meet. I have thought about going down to have a look but have just not got around to it!

I'm just up the road from Thatcham though.

I hope the blast was on the outside!!

Generally it is best to keep WD40 well away from cameras!

Hope you enjoy the Super A. I had mine new back in the 80's and It's still going strong.

Yes, that is the lever that stops the lens down when you fire the shutter. Should be down when the camera is not taking a picture.

Is the depth of field preview lever operating ok? (on the right hand side of the lens mount. This should move that lever inside the mount, to stop down the lens.

First thing to check is that the lens is mounted properly.

Make sure that it is completely on and won't undo without using the release catch.

I have a DA*300 and Pentax 1.7TC and have been very happy with it.
Here is a picture taken this summer. It is a crop and was taken through the double glazing with the da300 and pentax 1.7TC!
