I think it is worth supporting the site and there are the other enticements, like being able to download the pdf's of the past magazines. Thinking about it, I need to get an LX serviced so the servicing discount is likely to be used.
All in all it is worth it for the extras and to support the site.

If it does, is it set to the 'A'?
If it doesn't, there are restrictions in the modes you can use this lens. I don't know the Kx but Check out your manual about using lens without an A setting on the aperture ring. Try manual mode and the green button.

There are different capacity batteries available but if you buy one close to the same mA rating as the original, I don't think you can go wrong. The other thing is, you can afford a few more!
Don't forget, any make(including the pentax branded) need 2 or 3 charge/discharge cycles before they get their full capacity. Might be relevant if you are doing a Wedding.

It was the one that was on sale in my birth year and I have been looking out for one for ages. It has been very well looked after by its one previous owner. I haven't found a single scratch on it, he always kept it in the ever-ready case and everything seems to be working fine.
Really is an amazingly good looking camera, I think.

I need to find a couple of 46mm lens caps now, unfortunately both lost and the ever-ready case needs repairing along the bottom hinge. Anybody have any ideas of the best way to repair a leather camera case?

I've been wanting a Pentax K for a long time so when I saw this for sale I had to jump. When I went to collect it I found he was including the 135, hood, cases and a couple of original filters. All working fine.

Haven't even polished it or anything. Previous owner had it from new and kept it perfect.

I think you need to use the 18-135 or 17-70 and note what focal length you really use, as suggested by rosered. Have a look at your favourite pictures and check the EXIF for what focal length the pictures were taken at. That may give you a better idea of what you are using. You might find you use it up near the 70mm or 100mm mark and, just to muddy the water, you really need the DA70/100!
The DA70 is another very light/small lens of very good quality and a very good value lens too. The DA100 is a fine quality lens and gives you a macro as well, a whole new world to explore!
I have the 18-135 and I find it is great for walk about. It is not the best quality lens but it's other advantages mean I use it a lot. When I want quality and there is no danger of a dousing, I turn to a prime but if you follow this argument you need to know what focal length you will want.

All of this advise shows that there is not an easy answer. Sorry but until you try a lens out you can't know for sure which you will find most useful. If you buy one lens, then you will use it and almost certainly like it. You will also find it's limitations as you develop your technique and ideas. One of the causes of LBA!
We all take different pictures, we all have have different ideas of how we want to take those pictures. That is why there are so many options.
Going back to your original question, A single lens for most situations there are several options from Pentax.
1. 18-250. I have not used this so have no experience. Lots of people like it but it is only available second hand.
2. 18-135. I bought one of these a few months ago and find I use it a lot. Normally kept on the camera now as it is a general purpose, compact, silent, fast focusing zoom that gives good quality pictures. The range is where I find a lot of my pictures need to be. I found that using a 55-300 or 50-200, I was often using them at around the 70-135 focal length. Previously I would be swapping lenses a lot but I find I don't need to with this one, allows me to get pictures I would otherwise miss while changing the lens and keeps the dust danger down. The range it covers, for me, is just right. The fact that it is WR also means it is dust proof. Of course the range is not as great as some of the others.
3. 17-70. Looks a nice lens, constant aperture, quiet, but for me the range was a bit short for a one lens option. I haven't tried it but it has many adherents.
4. 60-250. Nice lens I'm sure but expensive, big, heavy. Haven't tried it and unlikely to, due to the above.
You may have noticed I am happy with my 18-135. I do also have a collection of primes that allow me better quality and larger apertures when I want them but for the criteria you set in your initial thread I don't think you would be disappointed with the 18-135.
