After only a week with the MZ-S I will agree it is lovely to use. Feels like the K5 but the operation is quite different, so much so that I keep looking at the back after taking a shot to check it!

Finding my way around it was not difficult, typical of Pentax to put things where you want them. The only thing that caught me out was the date imprinting on the photos. I had it on for the first roll and had difficulty finding where to turn it off. All in all the handling is intuitive and comfortable, everything feels solid and well built but not heavy or large. Although the controls are different from the DSLR's, some are the same, like the on/off/depth of field preview.

All in all I'm very pleased with it.

Thanks John. It's always puzzled me what is best although I don't tend to use the monopod that often, mainly due to laziness.

I understand the reasons for not using shake reduction with a tripod but is this the same with a monopod? Bearing in mind the camera may be steadier but not immobile, as with a tripod.

Has anyone tried?

If you use LV in a not too bright place, shine a bright led torch into the eyepiece only and you can watch the exposure change!

The viewfinder may look completely dark when in LV but light can still get around the same mirror that is in the same place as when taking long exposures. Must admit I often forget to cover the eyepiece when using the remote or timer and I know it makes a difference.

Having a clear-out and I found a duplicate square, quarter turn clamp on type lens hood and case. It's for the 28mm f3.5 Takumar lens.

Spotmatic No1
Meter working, shutter operates on all speeds ok. Self timer works fine
Cosmetically very good all over except a slight dink on the top of the prism where a flash shoe has been used. If you put a flash shoe on you will not see it. I will include a flash shoe with the camera.
Good working camera in good usable condition.
Looking £20 + postage at cost.

Spotmatic No2
Cosmetically very good.
Meter is working, shutter operates fine on all speeds. Self timer fine.
There is a problem with the prism, The mirroring of the prism is faulty in one place. You can focus ok but the view is not what it should be.
As the rest is good it would be worth changing the prism if you know how to.
Offers around £10 +postage at cost.

Good cosmetically on the outside. Mirror could be cleaner but quite usable.
Selftimer and shutter works ok most of the time. Sometimes shutter second curtain stops short of full travel.
If you know how to fix this it would be a nice camera. If you don't it would still be nice to have on the sideboard!
There is a non-working square meter & case to go with it.
Looking for offers around £10 + postage at cost.
