Numbers 3 and 5 show what the CCD is all about
Luscious colours, especially number 1.

No itnis not a bargain....
AF is shafted.....
It could possibly be as 1st Ever Pentax alluded to above; SDM failure in which case convert it to screw drive or use manual focus , or, return it and get your dosh back.
Good luck.

There are a couple of the M42 fit 58mm f2.0 Takumar lenses around at the moment for not much more - Not certain but I think they are a bit rarer the the f2.4 siblings and were generally regarded as a higher quality lens. I bought one a little while ago (paid top dollar but seller and condition were both known good)
"Asahi Kogaku Takumar 50 mm f/3.5: One of the initial lenses made for the Asahiflex series cameras in 1952.
Asahi Kogaku Takumar 58 mm f/2.4: Another early lens for the Asahiflex series, introduced in 1954.
Asahi Kogaku Takumar 83 mm f/1.9: Known to exist as early as 1955, this lens anticipated the later black and chrome style.
Asahi Kogaku Takumar 100 mm f/3.5: Introduced in 1952 for the Asahiflex series.
Asahi Kogaku Tele-photo 135 mm f/3.5: Made for the Asahiflex series in 1953.
Asahi Kogaku Tele-photo Takumar 500 mm f/5.0: One of the telephoto lenses for the Asahiflex series, introduced in 1955.
These lenses were highly regarded for their quality and are still appreciated by enthusiasts today, often being adapted for use on modern digital cameras."
I seem to recall the Simon's UTAK gave a pretty good run down of the Tak's production history in one of his excellent vid's.
Whether older is better than newer or vice versa is of course subjective if the question needs to be asked at all. My opinion is that they are all excellent in their own way and in particular given their age, the craftsmanship with which they were built has given them the ability to stand the test of time and still hold their own with modern lenses.

£3.64 postage not £33.64. I assumed it must be from Japan with that price, but it's London.

I do recall at some point in the past someone one this forum was looking to buy or at least interested in the purchase one of these pieces of Pentax history. Built from solid brass this lens is a delightful thing to behold. I already own one otherwise I would have snapped this up.
A collectors item yes but also a very capable piece of equipment.
I suspect at this price it may go quickly. I could be wrong. But...
