I've learned over a long period of time that the perceived sharpness/IQ of a lens is as much about light as other factors when simply comparing different images in the real world.

Indeed, that's a pretty fast shutter speed anyway. There are probably combinations where it will make a difference - shame we don't know precisely what they are.

Mmm, a bit of a shame as I'd thought I'd found a way of shooting in macro with manual focus but the resolution of the screen magnified is way too low to be sure of focus with my (ageing) eyes.

Took some shots with the Sigma 150-500mm on a beanbag with lens VR on and off and couldn't tell the difference at 1/250th so no disaster if you leave it on accidentally.

Mine was pretty sensitive on my K-x and my new K-r is as well. It does go back and stay back but not always first time and there is no positive click to say it is locked back in.

Thanks for that. It does magnify with the info button. Did look in the manual but not that easy to find and I knew you kind folks would know
Now I've looked in the manual and can't see anywhere about the focus confirm symbol/bleep in live view with manual focus. Same with catch-in-focus, both only seem to work with viewfinder.

I didn't use Live View on the K-x because the autofocus was painfully slow. The K-r seems better. I've noticed the focus area magnifies while focusing but it vanishes when it gets to focus so it doesn't really do much. In manual focus when I need it , it doesn't magnify and there is no focus confirm symbol or bleep, which is what I need. Works through the viewfinder. Am I missing a setting here and can the magnified portion be set to stay on?

Interesting - my two sets of Eneloops show red after about 250 shots with no Live View or flash but some reviewing. I have Power Save on a minute. This was the K-x - not sure yet with the K-r but they were also showing as empty on the charger LCD.

Now there's another thing. I use mine a lot and leave SR on. Should I? Does the camera just think I've got very steady hands. It is all a bit iffy really, isn't it
