I also have a practical problem with this and also agree with the poster who simplistically demonstrated that the software was flawed. My problem is that camera shake will be a diminishing variable from very shaky hands through fairly steady, to a monopod, to a cheap tripod to an expensive tripod! It's clever how it can distinguish between steady hands and a person with shaky hands using a monopod! There must be a crossover period that computes shutter speed/focal length/measured shake in the decision whether to turn it off or not.(Or can we just say that monopods and tripods always produce a different oscillating frequency so always turn off?) I always forget on my cheap tripod and it seems ok!

I have a recollection that I've used this with manual focus only lenses by pointing at the subject with shutter down then changing the focus till the shutter fires. (When it has focused)

I have the Tamron and have some respectable bird shots with it. Nevertheless I am amazed that the catch in focus or manual focus gave such good results of something moving fast towards you. I've found the hairline sensitive focus difficult unless I have time. Well done!

I use Gimp a lot and like it. I tend to process raw in PS Elements and then do the cropping, sharpening and one or two other things in Gimp. I find it my simplest program to use.
As for Serif I think people are being a bit harsh. I'm not mad on their Paint Packages but they do some pretty good Movie/DVD stuff and do have a lot of incredible, almost free offers. I asked not to be phoned any more despite having occasionally bought that way and they never phoned again. I don't mind the odd email because there is the odd genuine bargain.

Yes, cheers, Mike. I have been looking out for a 19AH which I figure should be ideal for nervous butterflies!

Apologies Mike - a bit of research has shown me it's the 72B SP 90. I see you have the SP35-80mm . I have this lens as well - how would you say its macro performance compares with the SP90?
Thanks, Dave

..... or what are the Li-ion cloned batteries like? They seem very cheap on eBay. I imagine these could be more risky. Any reputable ones?

Is there any disadvantage in getting one of these cheap eBay ones? Can't really see anything that could go seriously wrong. Have you got the seller ID for that one? How long did it take to get here?
Thanks,
Dave

I bought my Pentax K-x from SRS in person 2 years ago and found it to be a thoroughly pleasant experience. Having dropped my K-x on the kitchen floor I was delighted to find that it was covered by my household accidental cover. At last after thirty years I can get some money back!
So a replacement K-r. Phone call to SRS late p.m yesterday to the delightful Nikki and 9.10 a.m this morning camera arrives. And free postage with my Pentax User ID!! Why can't all retailers make life so easy.
Well done again SRS
Dave
........ and no, I don't have any connection with the Company other than I am unlikely to use another!
