If the bright spots were absent there would be too much negative space at the bottom (in this format anyway).

Lovely pictures but what they show is rather sad.

Yes. I'd like to go there. Lovely set.

I'll be awkward and go for the colour version - with the wreckage.

I can't argue with your intent or with the results but I find that having SOME sort of framework for my mind to cling to helps. Fuschia #3 here is a case in point. It's clearly abstracted from the reality but sufficient of that reality remains as an anchor to my perception.

Ye Gods. It really is a strange world out there. Remind me not to enter certain parts of places that sell computer games!

This is Dartmoor looking like anything but what popular ideas might provide of what it is like. Super set. Thank you for sharing them.

Just for once I have gone 'total Pentax' with a K1 and the 100mm f4 Dental Macro, aided by an F series x1.7 autofocus adapter. Everywhere is presently filled with autumnal colours and the recent wet weather has encouraged plenty of fungi to pop up. One of my favourite places to walk is an extensive wood composed of derelict coppice and mature standard trees. As you can see the paths don't see a lot of use!

Even less used are the railway sleeper benches that are tucked away. Just your quiet passage disturbs the wildlife and you need to sit still for about 10minutes before things return to normal.

Birch polyphor can always be seen but it looks particularly smart in the autumn.

Birch also host coconut milkcap in the surrounding leaf litter (if you cut it underneath it exudes a latex like goo).

There were also a few specimens of fly agaric, quite few having been eaten by mice - I hope they enjoyed their trip as this one is said to be hallucinogenic! (not that I would know).

And talking of things to eat, fruit in general seems to be bountiful this year, including this inviting looking collection of damsons. They are huge, succulent things but the fact that they remain uneaten tells a different story.

I defy you to manage a single bite as these are so sour they put sloes to shame!
