Stephen says he didn't like his *ist. I love mine - especially the unique Click-tzing!! as the shutter releases.

Times are moving on. The High Street shop is in a squeeze. Only today I stood outside Waterstones wondering whether to go in and find a book - (a real paper and print anachronism!!) - that I wanted. They had it advertised at £30 but it would need to be ordered. Realising that would mean yet another trip into town to get it I went home and looked on Amazon - £22 delivered tomorrow for free. ...
And if you want to check, it's "Roger Phillips Mushrooms" - a classic reference book.

Here Here! We have a similar one with the same under vs over contrast. I love how you have captured the light in the first one - it's as if you are being accelerated across it to escape the former and enter the latter.

You caught the fun and the intention of enjoying it in every shot. I could neither participate nor walk around photographing them so I take my hat off to you!

Just in case anyone else comes upon my recent problem ....

I changed the lens on my K1 and, as I often do, had a quick look through the viewfinder. It was out of focus so I half pressed to engage the AF. It was still out of focus. Oh Sh**! I checked everything and tried a different lens. Just the same problem. I released the shutter and got a perfectly focused and exposed image! Oh No. Is it my eye? After various silly tests it wasn't my eye so what is going on? Is the viewfinder dirty? So I cleaned it and things remained the same. I put an offending lens onto the K3. No problem. So it's the camera.
I went and got a beer - the universal panacea and then I noticed a tiny control wheel just to the right and behind the viewfinder. Turns out that I had inadvertently caught it with a finger and turned the diopter control when I changed the lens!

So check it before panicking if you get a similar 'fault' It will more than likely be your own (fault),

I think we shall be missing one or two other things too before very long. Watching Ebay (like it or lump it) gives a very good indication of how things are progressing in general. The number of sellers who are gathering mountains of similar items - one presumes for very small outlays - and offering large job lots of them is increasing daily. They don't even differentiate brands and offer say, 5 -7 lenses or 10 SLR or even DSLR camera bodies in a heap. This trend isn't picking on any particular maker but appears to be saying that the whole idea of photography as we all know it is rapidly becoming history. Even relatively modern items that were purchased for 4 figures maybe five years ago (DA*300mm for example) are appearing for £150! If the box-shifters cannot make a go of it then where does that leave things?
