I wondered about that one George but I think the monk is better looking than me so he stays right where he is.

I like the sound of this one Martin. My family were in iron and steel - my mother used to iron and my father used to steal.

If you have a K10d like me, or a K20 (presumably) you have a choice of RAW formats. You can select to use either PEF or DNG. I use DNG because that seems to be the more universal system. Photoshop, CS2 which I use, automatically opened up some PEF files as DNG when I accidentally had the camera set to shoot in PEF instead of my usual DNG, so no problems there.

One of the reasons I think the second shot is better is the reduced sky area. The sky takes the eye away from the daffs. Also in No. 2 the flowers are much more prominent.

Just a timely reminder to all UK photographers, and any others who live in zones where the time changes between winter and summer: When you put the clocks forward one hour this weekend don't forget to also change the time on your cameras.

May I add my thanks to Rob. Having selected several of these comeptition subjects I find his guide very useful in avoiding subjects that have already been used. What happens when we run out of topics?

Sorry about being missing for a day but I've now started the competition. I'm 100 miles away from home, at my son's in Halifax because they have just given us a new grandson, Callum. I was using his computer Monday morning then it died on us and I hadn't got either the time or the computer to get back to you.
I'm now using the local library internet connection.
I'll be back on line Sunday night so there will be no problems for me judging the competition.

And the next subject is.... This Modern World.
I dreamt it up, you interpret it. Could be anything that reflects the world we live in right NOW. The good, the bad or just contemporary. Modern architecture and city scenes, transport, graffiti and vandalism, wealth and poverty. You decide.
