I'm 100% certain that the DA*300 is capable of much better shots than the 55-300, but don't underestimate the sharpness that the zoom is capable of. Use it at around F8 with high-ish shutter speeds and you will be surprised just how good it is.

On your woodpecker shots, the only conclusive element is the colour rendition which is better on the DA*300.

Hello Robert, a very big welcome from me, hope you're enjoying the site as much as you obviously enjoy your photography!

The second one is an absolute belter! All are good, but this one stands head and shoulders above the others.

Welcome Dave, saw your pic on the Gallery - it looks good and sharp to me. There are plenty of primes out there for you to choose from - hope you have deep pockets!

The images on the site are indeed very sharp, well composed and beautiful. However, I think most of them look 'over processed', i.e. too much colour saturation and over-enhanced. I'm not sure why this would be; wonder if anyone else agrees with me?

I think this post highlights the negative power that the internet can wield and how much people can believe what they read, regardless of whether it is true or not. I own a Saab 9-3 which has now covered 104,000 miles, was (relatively) cheap to buy, is a pleasure to drive, is fast, corners well, has great seats, is well equipped, does 50MPG and appears to have been well screwed together. If I had taken notice of all the negative forum posts and general internet rubbish about this car I would never have bought it.

I am amazed that often people will dismiss a product without having any experience of it. I don't know of anyone who has owned a K-r and has not been delighted with it. I hope this is a lesson learned.

David

PS - If you are looking to buy any car, you will find masses of negativity about 99% of models on the internet. I've been in the motor industry for 26 years and I have rarely come across a car that is consistently bad.

The sunrise shots are clearly spectacular, but my favourite is the Beach Hut. Great textures in the grasses and the hut with colours that hit you right in the eye.

Thanks for the post Mark, I'm 100% certain I will be tempted to get the K-5 at some point this year so it's good to know that the image quality is worth the upgrade from the K-x. For the time being I'll just have to make do!
