I agree with Ken. I have seen lots of comment different zooms, take the DA L 18-55mm kit lens for example, some comments very good, some very bad. As this is currently the only wide zoom I own, I have to use it for nearly all my landscape shots. I judge it by whether the images turn out well and whether I and others like them. Does it compare favourably to other zooms - most of which are more expensive? I've got no idea but most people seem to think my pictures are OK.

Hello Davis, welcome to Pentax and the forum. You've certainly chosen a good camera to start your love affair with Pentax - I hope it lives up to expectations.

I think this is almost 100% definitely light leakage, either via the eyepiece or at the filter end. I have experienced the same issues taking Infra-red shots with my K-x and a screw on Hoya filter, but only in certain lighting ocnditions which re-inforces the fact that it is leakage of light. I suspect the petal hood on my lens is partly to blame as it only seems to happen when there is strong front/side lighting.

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the sensor; the flare streaks are not in the same place on all shots.

David

I have for sale 3 older classics, all with clear undamaged optics, no fungus, oil free and snappy apertures and free focussing. All are 100% working and have been used on my K-x and K-m. Prices include Royal Mail Parcel Delivery; this can be upgraded to Recorded or Special Delivery at extra cost if required. The lenses are:

SMC Pentax-M 28mm F3.5 - the rarer and more sought after F3.5 variant of this classic lens, this example is in mint condition and complete with original front / rear caps (front cap has one of the springy clips missing but still stays on), original case and Kenko 49mm skylight filter. £54 OVNO

Sigma 50mm F2.8 Macro (MF) - A very sharp 1:1 (Lifesize) Macro, in good used condition, with original Sigma front cap, replacement rear cap, original box, original hood, Vivitar 52mm skylight filter. Note, this is an 'A' lens so will operate in AV mode no issues. £90 OVNO

Tokina AT-x 28-85mm F3.5-4.5 MF Macro Zoom - The AT-x range is Tokina's best glass and this example is a solid all metal zoom in fair used condition. There is a small amount of plastic trim missing from around the front element - this has no effect on performance and the element is not damaged. Comes with original front cap and replacement rear cap. Note, this is an 'A' lens so will operate in AV mode no issues. This lens is sharp, but a little lacking in contrast; this is easily fixed in post processing. An absolute belting bargain at £19, no offers.

Pictures of all three lenses here.

Payment by Paypal please, or Bank Transfer if you can't do Paypal. Thanks for looking, please PM me if interested.

Looks a little expensive to me....everything finds its level and if there is no interest at £290 it may be worth reducing it a little.

Why not set up a foliopic site? You can trial foliopic for free and then subscribe if it suits. You can then offer the pics for sale and another bonus is that the folipic templates are very good and will help you make a very good website.

I can't offer you any advice about how to deal with the club members; you are probably best placed to make your own decisions on this front.

You will regret it if you don't take it. You would always wonder what your pictures would have turned out like if only you had taken them with the K-r!

I would not have expected to like them, but after seeing them I also think they are very, very good. They look completely natural and all the better for the colour.
