Like just about everyone on here I need to rationalise my lenses for space and future purchases. I have what I consider to be two beautiful lenses which now I tend to sit and hold rather than use. (Should I see someone about this?)I will keep one but not sure which.
The first is the 50mm SMC Pentax-A f1.7 which seems to have a value of about £40 in the mint condition it is in. The other is the rarer 50mm Auto Chinon f1.4 in a similar condition. The latter isn't an A lens. Any idea of the value of the Chinon?

Dave, given the rather limited value of both of these lenses, why do you not just keep both of them? Surely there is not a lot of point in selling either; they take up very little space and there may well be a time in the future when you will think 'I wish I still had that lens, it would have been perfect for this shot'.

Magnificent - are you available to teach me how to process my images like you do? Send me a PM if you're in the Sheffield area and have some spare time!

Cheers

I think I will wait and see what a good number of people think after owning a K-5IIs for a period of time. Only then will it be possible for us to make a reasoned judgement.

Hello Suzanne

Welcome to the forum and the site in general - there are plenty of K-x users on here and some stunning images shot with this camera.

I agree with what cabstar (Gary Stafford) has said; if you're serious about doing weddings you will need the very best kit you can afford. The K-x would be great as a backup body, but a K-5 would be better for your main camera and you will need a high quality zoom with a decent maximum aperture and probably a couple more high quality primes in a longer focal length. The 18-55 kit lens is great, but is not 'fast' enough for indoor work without flash.

You clearly love your photography and your enthusiasm comes across in spades!

Best wishes
David

If you want to use the lens for macro work it will be almost useless at a permanent f2.8 as the depth of field will be wafer-thin. If it's for more general use it may be OK. As for cost of repair, I have no idean but I don't think it would be very cheap.

Great shots, that lens really is a star performer. I also like No2 the best.
