Even just the second one alone was worth the effort Jules.

Number one and two are my favourites, to me they lead the eye better than 3 and 4, both lovely images.

In the third I find the foreground a little distracting, It might have been better to find something of foreground interest actually in the water (like a post sticking up for example) and use that as a lead-in.

In the fourth the shadows are a bit dark for me. I always like to see some detail in shadows, even in sunset scenes, because that is how the human eye would see it at the time.

A nice set though Nigel, thanks for posting images of this striking scene.

These look pretty decent Barrie in the sharpness department, looks like you will get some good results with this combination. There's a fair bit of noise though, I suspect the ISO must have been quite high?

Even with the battery out date, time and personal settings are remembered. So is there another power source in the camera?
I suspect the camera has Eeprom memory to store certain settings. This type of memory is non-volatile, i.e. it retains its settings even when power is completely removed.

My attitude was basiclly "it's a computer" so nothing surprising.
You really make me laugh. At least you will not be surprised if the ABS in your car stops working
That was exactly what I was thinking!

With BMW very progressed in developing a self drive car I does make you wonder!
I once had a Fiat Uno Turbo - the ABS didn't work on that, in fact it stopped the brakes working altogether and almost caused a major accident!

I've updated the firmware on my K-3 and have had no lock-ups, either before of after doing this. Still no lock-ups on any of my other cameras either.

I think you were typing as I posted mine! On my monitor even the third one is very blue - look in the white area of the bird's feathers on the head and compare it with my version. I know that my monitor is accurate for colour balance - it would be good to know what others think?

Yes, that is better Roger, but it still has a slight blue cast and I would warm it up even more.

What about these:

- Switchable anti-moire
- USB 3 = rapid transfer of images to a PC
- Flu Card capability for tethering to a smart phone (coming soon)
- More accurate metering
- More accurate colour rendition and white balance
- Less tendency to blow highlights

And finally, I would dispute that the K-3 is worse at higher ISO's. I've had mine for two months now and had the opportunity to use it side by side with my K-5IIs during this time and I think it is as good as the IIs at higher ISO's. If there is any difference, it is not worth worrying about.

Nice shots Roger, I like them all. I have noticed though quite a severe colour cast on the Coal Tit one - there is a lot of blue in that image and I think it would benefit from the WB being adjusted to a warmer setting.
