I would also keep both. I have various MF lenses at or around the 50mm mark, M50 F1.4, A50 F1.7, K55 F1.8 and a Chinon 50mm F1.9, all are excellent lenses but the one I keep coming back to is the M50 F1.4. It has something different and always gives me good results.

I don't hesitate to use the M50 wide open - it is not soft even at F1.4 and I find it works really well for portraits.

I think almost all K-5iis owners are delighted with their cameras and almost all K-5ii owners are also delighted with their cameras. So, delight all around! Personal preference, as always. What is clear is that both the K-5ii and the K-5iis are big bargains at the moment, especially for good second hand ones.

Very evocative shots, I particularly like the Sepia one.

Another tack

If I only print to A4, A3 occasionally, using Corel and sometimes PDCU, am I likely to see any difference AND does printing add to the risk of moire---- most reviews only refer to on screen views.

Sorry!

Cheers

Mac
To answer your points in turn:

1. You are likely to see a difference with the K-5iis, especially when printing, but also on screen. Your images will require less processing / sharpening

2. Printing does not increase the chances of moire

I have owned my K-5iis for a year now and used for all manner of shots, not sure how many, but it must be around the 6,000 mark. Never seen moire once, this includes taking approx. 2,000 shots at weddings, where the K-5iis performed brilliantly, not only in the sharpness department but also in terms of its focussing accuracy.

I agree with Sean (Dodge69) that the K-5iis will become almost legendary and will certainly be thought of as a classic. My vote would go this way without any doubt.

A lovely set, won't try to choose a favourite as all of them appeal to me. Colours, composition and detail are all very good.

Great shot Tim, Andrew's quite a decent chap isn't he?

Love the colouring, the unusual viewpoint and the overall quality of the image, you must be pleased with this one!

Hi Dave

I haven't noticed any focus issues with my K-3 yet, although I've yet to test it on a wildlife shoot. My old K-5 Mk1 used to behave as you describe, although funnily enough it was with the 17-70, not with my telephoto lenses and it was unerringly accurate on my Siggy 150-500!

That first Crossbill shot is indeed superb, but I would get the camera and / or lens checked out if I were you as it seems odd that it is this variable.

Why not send me your DA*300 and I'll check it out for you

I think it's best we just 'let things be'. I appreciate the messages of support but I have no wish to antagonise anyone. It's just a hobby (in my case anyway) and not worth upsetting anyone.

Best wishes
David
