I would stick with a mid-zoom, maybe the 50-150, but this strikes me as a bit 'long', especially if you have access at close quarters. I would be tempted to take the 17-70 instead, or as well as the 50-150. You can always take a backpack for different lens choices.

The 150-500 is a good choice, if you can comfortably carry it about all day. I would recommend a decent monopod to assist with the 15-500.

A wonderful set Tom, I think the sunrise here was perfect for photography, i.e. the light is quite soft and probably helped you. I can't pick a favourite, they are all lovely.

Some stunners in this set, especially 4 and 6. For me 6 is irresistible, a fantastic landscape image.

Wow, Steve the Peacock shot is the clincher for me here, it is so sharp and pops from the background so well. This proves beyond doubt that the new TC is quality glass and pairs with the DA*300 beautifully. You may have just made my mind up! I now need to spend over £1000 as I don't have either the DA*300 or the TC!

Hi Alistair, what I was meaning is that this set do not have the same colour or vibrancy as the last set you posted. Contrast could help, but I think that the camera hasn't actually captured them as well, probably due to light conditions and also they don't seem to be quite as well focussed. The result is they don't 'pop' off the screen like the ones in your other post do.

I don't think these are quite up to the quality of the first ones posted, or to the last ones posted today, they look a bit 'flat' in comparison to the others, not sure if this is due to light conditions?

These are 'right' to me Alistair, I particularly like the off-centre one, but all are pretty good and the first is verging on a stunner. The only slight negative would be the last one where the point of focus is on the moustache and not the eyes, but of course this may be intentional so I'm not going to presume this is wrong!
