Yet more Stranger Street Portraits

K-5 and the DA 50 135

Not hearing much from people about my portraits so guessing I am getting them right ok????
Always appreciate some feedback as its certainly helping

These are 'right' to me Alistair, I particularly like the off-centre one, but all are pretty good and the first is verging on a stunner. The only slight negative would be the last one where the point of focus is on the moustache and not the eyes, but of course this may be intentional so I'm not going to presume this is wrong!

Great eyes in the female portraits, but why for heavan's sake, do they need those bits of metal attached to their faces.

We only put rings in Bulls noses where I live

Love the Facebook page and the little chats that go with the photos, I also prefer the image of the lady in number one on your Facebook page too.

Just my 2-cents worth, but I'm not too sure you have the 'cropping' just right, a lot of the faces seem very tight in the frame.

No.4 seems the best to me, as she seems to have a little space.

I don't have a problem with going in even tighter, but you would need something to highlight as a point of focus.

These images remind me a little of passport pictures.

For example, I got close for this one, and the wee lad's specks were my intended 'point of focus',

In others, I came out a bit to get the whole face in,

I just feel you have chopped either too much off or too little off.

No.1 should be chopped off just above the eyebrows, the white band is distracting.

No.2 should be chopped off above the specks as the background is distracting.

No.3 should be chopped of just as the very 'RED' colour comes in, the top part adds nothing.

No.4 is ok, but I think she would be better on the LHS of the frame.

No.5, you chopped the dude's hat off on the LHS, it's the brim of the hat, eyes and tash that make the image here, a tight crop on those would be the better image, i.e.

Hey John thanks for your thoughts. I frame their tight in camera because I like it that way however i am tempted to try different styles in future. When shooting stranger's you don't have time sometimes to think

I like all of your recent street shots Mate. The only critique I have is on the 1st shot, to my eye the skin is a little to smooth and blown.
The 3rd one is the winner for me though, the look of despair is spot on

QC, you must have the gift of the gab (assuming all these were 'asked for'). Do you take your Carrot with you .
I love the shots, but do think John MD has a point. Too tight a crop can change a 'Street Portrait' into a 'Portrait'. But hey, who cares, I like them.
