I'm not surprised by this Gary. I saw evidence of this at an event last year, where attendees shall remain nameless as I was accused of lying about it

The K-5II variants and the K-3 are awesome for low light focussing, without the need for the AF Assist light.

I don't think it will be possible to set with the filter on Jon, the filter lets almost no light in and there won't be enough to get a reading? If you can explain more I would be grateful, I'll also have a look at the link.

I may come too, might take the opportunity to do some urban shooting afterwards.

I take a fair few exposures of several minutes, so shielding with the hand is not an option. I have made a cover out of a piece of box card, cut to shape and covered with black tape. This slots under the rubber that surrounds the eyepiece and this is sufficient to hold it in place. No light leakage occurs and it doesn't matter if the bit of card gets lost as I'll just make another one.

Same for me, the last one is my favourite. The light is a bit harsh on the others, clearly not the photographer's fault but it does limit the attraction of the images for me.

Thanks for the tip on the WB Jon, I have never known where to set the WB for using the Hoya R72 filter. I will give this a go. When you say to set the WB from some green foliage, I presume you mean without the filter on the lens? Excuse my ignorance with this question!!

Cheers

Watch out for in-camera jpg noise reduction, there's always a trade off between noise and sharpness especially at high ISO
Very good point, I had forgotten about this. There has been some discussion on Forums and youtube about the JPEG NR settings on the K-3. The general concensus is to switch it off or turn it to 'Low' to prevent any loss of sharpness on JPEGs due to in-camera NR. For me it's not an issue as I shoot in RAW and JPEG, but it could certainly play a part in the images you've posted in this thread being less sharp than you would like them to be.

BTW, lack of sharpness has not been an issue with my K-3.

I genuinely don't know what to say

I won't be making mockery, that's not my style. I think you will find a significant difference with the AF Smeggy, not with AF speed but definitely with accuracy and more so in poor light.

I sincerely hope you get on well with the new camera and I'm sure it will give you good service. I think you will also find after extended use that it is sharper than the K-5, albeit this is not the be all and end all.

When are you going Neil? Also, how close will it be possible to get, I would imagine the distance would be a limiting factor?

Hi all

I'm hoping someone can help with a question regarding Adobe Bridge CS3 and the way it displays DNG thumbnail images. On my Windows 8.1 laptop I can see K-5IIs DNG thumbnails and images in Adobe Bridge CS3 with no problems. On the other hand, it will not render the DNG thumbnails or images from the K-3. I can see the image icons and can open the images without issue from Bridge to Adobe Camera RAW, then process in Photoshop CS3, all without any problems on the K-3 files, it's just that thumbnails and images don't render in Bridge.

Can anyone explain why? I have to resort to PDCU5 to browse the K-3 DNG files and this software is poor to say the least.

Thanks in advance of any help that can be provided.

Regards
David
