Well done Gareth, I spent all day at 'Le Tour' in Oughtibridge (Sheffield) yesterday, camera gear in tow! I know how difficult it is to get good shots of the race, it really is chaotic, fast and unpredictable. The other problem is that with so many riders in the pelleton, the camera doesn't know where to focus! I might try MF next time.

I think your shots are good, I haven't processed mine yet but I think I have a few worth showing, so I'll put these on later. My favourite of the three above is the second one, this is superb, particularly so because all of the riders in shot are from the same team.

Regards
David

A wonderful set Simon, the Damon Hill one is a particular favourite of mine, but they are all very good.

I echo Alan's (Blythman) words in full.

I hope that I have been a significant contributor to this site in the past 3 years or so, both from a photographic and a Forum perspective. I too have joined the EU site, but from what I've seen I also won't be spending my time on there too much as I don't care for the format, nor for the undercurrent of sniping, which unfortunately has also been prevalent on here. I want this site to work, to be a valuable resource for Pentax photographers. For it to be that, it must have regular contributions from experienced and talented photographers, the likes of which Alan has mentioned.

It will not achieve this unless changes are made and there is a more open and honest approach introduced by the moderation team, by that I mean exactly what Alan has referred to in terms of keeping the members informed in a timely and honest way about why certain things have been done.

We will always have some dissent, all Forums do, but it's the way in which it is handled which will make all the difference. At least there is some passion being shown by one or two people, which is good! I'm off to the Tour de France now, so bye for a couple of days.

David

I have translated it Algi, did this last night and it reads:

Dead? There is a life in some more fried vegetarian tofu!

It doesn't help much other than to confirm it's one of the banned members.

Not your fault at all Marat, more an issue with some of the other posts in this thread. Please accept an apology from me on behalf of many others I suspect, for the shabby way this thread has been conducted.

What has this thread got to do with Pentax photography ?
Nothing whatsoever Charlotte and it is an illustration as to why this Forum is not working at present. Not only do we have people hell bent on destroying it (wrong) but we also have a recent history of massive own goals (excuse the World Cup pun) being scored by the site administrators and moderators in terms of the response to recent requests for change and criticism of the moderation / forum management approach.

I do not for one moment condone the actions of people like Special_Fried_Rice who is clearly on a mission to disrupt and divide, but this sort of attitude would not exist had things been managed better.

Unfortunately it looks as though photography is no longer the topic of choice.

Teh title "Human Zoo" has given me an idea - where are some people trated like animals? I know, and I'm sure I'll get some good pictures this evening.

Camera, beer, bars, dancers ... could be a good night.
As mentioned in the other post......we can all see through you

I cannot believe the statement:

836 members online - that has got to be a manufactured or manipulated figure. What time of day was is? I don't think that will be an answer because that many were not on line at the same time.
That may well be the case, but it doesn't disguise the fact that you are only on here to make trouble and we can all see through you.

I'm with Foliopic, they have a range of templates to choose from and the cost is reasonable. It's probably not the most sophisticated option out there, but it does work well, the website loads and performs quickly, so I have no complaints.

I agree with Nigel about the sharpness, if you take an image like this which is almost abstract in nature, it has to have something to anchor it, a strong focal point. Because the focus is not quite 100%, it doesn't have that.

Don't worry about getting feedback on your images, I know it's hard when you first start posting them, but feedback is one of the best ways we learn and we need to be open minded about other people's perceptions of what we produce.

Keep posting the shots, keep developing your own style.

Best wishes
David
