Number 4 is a great documentary shot, very 'Andrew' if you know what I mean! I am less sure about the composition on this one though and feel it would benefit from losing some off the bottom. There's a little too much bright beach area for me that doesn't contribute very much to the overall image.

All good images, I agree that number 4 is the pick of them.

The third one is my favourite Andrew, great colours / contrast and a beautiful composition, yet it is also a very simple image. Nothing pretentious, just a great photo.

It's worth thinking about these settings even if you shoot RAW as you can set the second card slot to automatically record the JPEG equivalent image and this will be affected. I don't have my K-3 with me (working away from home at present) and can't remember all the settings, but one which is always set is the 'Natural' colour setting. I think I have lens corrections turned on as this can help with reduced processing. I have the high ISO Noise reduction set to 'Low'.

Weather Forecast is warm and settled, temperatures approaching 20 celcius, which is almost unheard of at the start of November in North Yorkshire!

(PS: Again, why is this forum so backwards? You only accept JPG? You are aware than PNG is a popular web graphic type. Please think about joining the 21st century.)
Why do you need PNG's on a Forum like this? They are larger file sizes than Jpegs and I don't understand what benefit allowing PNG uploads would bring.

A good start Andrew, exposure is bang on and the image evokes a lot of questions - what is she thinking about, where does she come from, is she alone?

I also prefer the first version as it is more mysterious.

These look pretty good to me Mike, I haven't managed to get any Kingfisher photos yet!

Now I'm worried...
I wouldn't worry too much Andrew, there are not many reports of failures of the shutter on here.

BTW the reports on the K-3 are not shutter lock-ups they are of the camera going into 'machine gun' mode.

I know this is no comfort for Matt, but these things seem to be pretty rare.
