Hi Stu

Just had a look at the two K-5 images on the Gallery and they both look over-exposed to me. Try knocking back the exposure a stop or so and I think this may well help a good deal.

K-5 RAW images need to be processed to get them to sparkle but the JPEGS should be good straight from the camera.

David

no clarity in the photos and if you put them aside the ones from the k10 and ds that i had they look crap
to put it mildly

Can you post some examples?
Are you shooting RAW or JPEG?
Are you post processing the images?
Is it a focussing issue. i.e. are the images soft?

The K-5 is a seriously good camera, so unless you've got a dud, or there's something seriously wrong with the settings or the lens you should get much better results than your DS and K10.

If there's someone experienced with a K-5 living fairly close to you, I would suggest a day out with them so you can compare notes and compare images.

I've got the 283 and it is a damn fine bit of kit, possibly my best photographic purchase to date? I've now got a 7 Day Shop Ball Head fitted, which is also pretty darned good for the money.

This is a very fine set Alan, lots of creativity as the other posters have noticed. For me, 12 is clearly the best of the bunch, but the standard is high almost without exception. I'm not going to pick up on anything specific that needs addressing as it would be churlish to do so.

A good photographer can turn his / her hand to any style as you have proved here.

It's been a while since I posted a set of images on the Forum, not much chance to get out and about with my cameras due to work and home commitments during the past 2 months. However, I managed to break free for a couple of hours this morning and got up early to catch first light and the mist. These are the result, from a little known location that is magical in these conditions. I hope you like them, comments are encouraged. All are with the K-01 and D-Xenon 12-24 lens, fitted with a Hoya Pro1 Polariser.

Your images are coming along in leaps and bound John, particularly the compositional element, which is lovely on these photos. It is a great set and a feast for the eyes in what looks to be a fantastic location.

The processing in also improving in terms of a more balanced overall look to your shots with greater detail visible. There is scope for further improvement here, some of the areas look slightly lacking in contrast and as MrB says there is more detail hiding in the shadows that could be exposed.

There are a lot of very good points with these shots, I've mentioned the composition but also the exposure control is excellent and the colours are true without being overblown.

Well done and keep posting them!

A lovely set of images Nigel, you've captured the depth and detail of the gardens very well. This is all about differing opinions when comments are passed on here, my feeling is that there is one aspect that I am not so keen on and that is the aspect that MrB likes! I think the colours are overdone here, particularly the greens which are a bit 'acid' and bright for my taste. I don't mind the blurred water and I think the compositional element of most of these is good. Some specifics I have noticed:

- In 8 there is some obvious distortion and the framing is a bit tight also in this one

- Distortion is creeping in for numbers 1 and 4 too

- There is a tendency in several of the shots for them to be leaning to the left, e.g. 3,4,6,7 and 9

Well done on this set though Nigel, the colours are subjective and I always prefer 'muted', but I'm sure others will really love the brightness of the tones in these.

I have one of these lenses, it is aluminium construction BTW, just not quite the same as the Limited version. It takes superb images and is a perfect partner for a K-01.
