Like you I was and still am amazed how quickly the Sigma can focus but, there are occasions when the camera/lens just doesnt seem to see and focus on what I want it to. Problem is the image in the viewfinder is by then a total blurr both for me and I presume the focusing processor. This has happened on near, distant, high and low contrast subjects.
Usualy when I test it again not in anger it works OK, but it is annoying me as I have lost some good action bird shots due to the problem.
When trying to get birds in flight I have overcome this by using constant focus and auto focus area. This quickly locks focus on, but I'm still trying to get really sharp images using this method.
I will keep persiting with it and if I can shed more light on my problem I will post again.

The noise is only heard when the camera is moved about quickly especially side to side. Turning SR off in Movie/Liveview almost totaly eliminates noise.
The following I take as fairly normal, a very slight rattle which is heard, with or without SR on when moved about quickly. This noise stops if lens is removed and then mirror locked up.

I have had a K7 for a year and have only recently noticed excessive rattle in both Liveview and Movie mode. It seems to be almost, but not totaly stopped by switching SR off. When SR is on you can not only hear it but feel it. I'm not sure if it was always as bad as this or if it's got worse.
Any other users experience of this may reassure me alls OK, or not as the case may be.

We got rid of our East wing, it just took too long to walk the 1/2 mile to reach the bell to ring for the maid. Plus the jogging back and forth to the cellar killed the butler.

Lot better on the K-r than it was on my K-x but I must admit I rarely use it, especially as I have to put my reading glasses on - no dioptre adjustment there!
Yes I know the problem, it's a pity there isnt a sort of magnifier glass you could put over the screen to protect it and make it easier to read.
I think I will invent one tommorrow, could make a fortune!

Well I'm pleased that someone in authority has used common sense and I hope it filters down to those on the ground who are supposed to work with and not against the public.

Thanks for all the valued advice and comments

Just to update you, I have had an email back from City of Lincoln Council, basically they say there is no policy on photography from their carparks. However the email says that apart from carparking;
"Any other uses for car parks are normally subject to the granting of a licence, examples we have used are for car washing, filming etc"

However the email also goes on to say;
"The Council would have no objection to you taking a quick snap as part of your hobby, however if it was connected to a business activity then it would be subject to a licence."

I'm not sure the attendant was taking the same line when he approached me so I will keep a copy of the email for future reference.

Yes!

I took a picture the day after the clocks went back, and noticed that the time on it was wrong. I'd actually assumed that it would do it automatically, like Windows, but I guess that's a bit much to expect.

I'd like to sound smug, but I also noticed that I'd set the date wrong originally
Maybe if you try plugging the camera into the PC. Only joking dont bother I dont think they are that smart. (Yet)

I reckon he was bluffing. I would go directly to the City council and ask them.
I would also note the date and time of the incident and a description of the car park attendant. If you can find out his name, even better.

In France there is a law forbidding you to take photographs of people without their permission. It is rarely applied and is not of concern if the faces are not easily identifiable. It can make street photography a little more precarious.

It may be that the owners of the car park do have the right to forbid the taking photographs from the car park - even if you are taking photos of public places.

I'd be interested to know th outcome if you do approach the council.
Hi Blaze
Have taken your advice and emailed them as I feel very strongly about this.
