I sought an answer to that a short time ago.(My "Troubleshooter" post 29/10.) My daughter's *istDL2 had run for years on AAs quite happily and suddenly stopped showing any response. Thanks to some of the help on here she is now using NiMH rechargeables and all is right with the world again.

Problem seems to be solved, at least temporarily.
Tried the rechargeable NiMH from my grip and the DL2 is working again.
Thanks.
Dave.

My daughter's *istDL2 just won't switch on. Was working perfectly until a couple of days ago. She went to use it and it won't switch on. Have changed batteries, cleaned contacts and have even used a new SD card on the offchance it would make a difference.
Any suggestions before paying for a repair or, more likely, binning it?

Sorry, didn't quite make it clear. The guy was using a K5 and not amember of the Forum. It's many years since I last met a fellow Pentax user, except for members of my own family.

After more years than I care to remember of taking pictures, I was out for a quick look at our local Aviation museum's Open Day,and for the first time I met a fellow Pentax user.Result, as the kids say these days.

Any chance you can expand on that? According to the manual NiMH should work and certainly so if they are freshly charged and almost new. Also if eneloops are needed what capacity (mAh)are required to make it work? The Pentax Support site simply states :-
K200D AA Battery Types

Q: What type of batteries can be used with the K200D

A: The K200D can be powered by four AA lithium batteries, four AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries or four AA alkaline batteries. Note: Use of AA alkaline batteries is not rcommended except for emergency use or checking the camera's functionality.
I've quite happily used 7Dayshop NiMH 2900s to power my K200D in both body and the grip with no complaints. They are recharged with aŁ7.99 charger from the BM store. I always keep a couple of spare sets of Energizer Lithiums in the bag in case I run out of power but I've not needed them in a couple of years.

My vote goes to the Super A, with an ME11 winder. I'd used earlier Pentax models but have always, since I got my Super A,sworn by it. After age began to tell on my eyes I switched to MZ7 and MZ5n and love them both.
Still have the film cameras and sometimes use them but most things are now done with the K20D.
