Congrats on that win! I like the deep moody atmosphere and silhouette technique in the 2nd. The sky and island are coming out a bit bright and the blues don't look quite right, a bit too cyan? But glad it was accepted, well done.

Well done, David. I particularly like the second one - the silhouettes give this image so much atmosphere.

Nigel Mc, the colours are a fair way out. We had to submit prints for the competition and I know my printer is always a fair bit darker than my screen so I always overcompensate before printing and I forgot to go back to the original colours.

That looks way too dark. If your printer is always printing too dark then maybe your monitor is too bright causing you to underexpose in processing.Thank you, both.

My comments on the original in the OP are the same as Nigel's, the sky and Island are a tad bright but it's much better than the dark version just above

Well done. Colours are, as you suggest, too lurid in the first one, but I do like the second.

These two images won first and second places in a calendar competition organised by the local branch of the Newcastle Building Society
both taken with my back up K200D and, probably, Sigma 17 - 70
