AF speed is very good, as sharp as anything else, and the constant 2.8 is a joy.

Remember that the 1.7x does not provide full range af, you need to at least manually focus the lens to about the correct area. The aperture of the mains lens does not matter, so you should be able to do what you want;using the Pentax AF Adapter, then attaching the M42 adapter on to that, then attaching an M42 lens that has a minimum aperture of 2.8 or les

Get used to it.
When you bought into Pentax you also opted out of most magazine reviews.
The topic has been well covered on numerous occasions. Just enjoy the nice pictures, until you get fed up of articles on fill in flash,ND10 filters oh and not forgetting the all time classic, how to hold the camera.

First thing to do is make sure the Exif data is available. When you save the images for the forum do not use "save for web" this strips of the data. Suggest you re-size again, save as, then post to forum.
Am guessing at this stage but it looks like your aperture was to large (small number) for the effect you wanted.
What lens and aperture settings did you use, which camera, what focal length (all of this could have been obtained from the exif data)
