Have just seen an image supplied by Unlocker of a heron at a ridiculously high ISO,
Am definitely set on the K5 now.
It will be mine in 8 weeks, when my bonus gets paid.
If for some reason the bonus is delayed I will buy one anyway.
Thanks Danny, i think.

Sigma 400mm f5.6 non apo, usually goes for around £200, not bad at all but can suffer from flare and low contrast in certain circumstances.

Next up Sigma 150-500 HSM OS around £600 from various places, highly regarded by its owners (including me :lolList price is circa £800, but plenty of specials available.
With the 150-500 coming out you may find ealier versions at bargain rates.

The K5 seems such a good upgrade to my K20.
I have the cash available for 1 major photographic purchase this year.
Currently have a good range of lenses and a K20.
The improved af and high iso quality of the K5 are what I need, but still i hesitate.
Why?
Everytime I get close to ordering another issue seems to come up;
sensor stain, low light af, mirror slap, the list seems to go on and on.
One issue gets fixed then another crops up (pardon the pun)
Perhaps I should just get on with it, i know I want one, I can afford one, but I still hesitate.
Why?

The noise is a bit more with the Kr in the background and the finer details appears better with the K5
Comparing the background of No3 against No3 I can see that now.

Thanks Stefan, another reason to get the K5
Am doing my best to resist, but the sea is relentless.

You probably just need to see them printed on A3 or something like that to view them.
Agree, perhaps you need to send me a printer?:

IMHO, these shots have a lot of colour, which make the slightly distracting to my eyes, for me the grocer is by far the best; the composition and expressions are superb.
The cobbler could have been a great image but the subject is lost in the "clutter"

A good set, can only spot the kr by looking at the exif data.
No2 looks slightly under exposed, do not like the background on No 5 and 6.
But good examples of the capabilities of this lens.

The 12-24 is fantastic, It is the only lens I have never considered selling or trading. Am sure the 15mm has its fans but while its IQ can compete with the 12-25 it cannot compete on flexibility.
Just noticed there is a Samsung 12-24 in the classified (same as Pentax 12-24) for £400 odd, a bargain IMHO.
If you want to see some sample images with the 12-24, say the word.
