I agree to a certain extent, but having been a local council policy officer I can tell you it is not easy serving the public well and getting the response right all the time.

ahhhh yes wonderful Bradford Council We have great parkies like Dave (hardgravity)who do a fantastic job, sometimes in difficult circumstances.

The problem is that public perception and media hysteria drive politicians and senior managers to make policies and decisions which are sometimes well over the top! I suppose a camera can seem intrusive and the most strange thing we read about is people collections of sick shots on their computers.

That is just what I intend doing. But I was hoping some one might have a bright idea. If you don't ask you don't know!

However I will never know now if it is the lens, the camera, the viewfinder or my glasses that is wrong.

At the weekend i took my K20d out of the camera bag and the outer case of the viewfinder dropped off the camera, with the diopeter adjustment lever coming off the body seperately

The viewfinder outer casing seems to slide back onto the body alright.

Unfortunately the diopeter lever seems to be a small piece of flat plastic that cannot be fitted back. I am not sure if a lug is missing or even how it is sctually secured in place.

Any ideas on what to do would be gratefully received.

The camera still works, obviously, and the dipoeter is still set at the central point for my use

Hello Rob,

Just a short note to say that the FA 50 arrived safe and sound. It is in excellent condition.

Thanks

Thanks for the great discussion people. I will carry on using my hoods even if they do make the lens look enourmous and gets cross threaded at times

I must admit that I have occasionally knocked the hood against a surface (such as a wall) and been glad it was not the lens.

The problem with macro work is when you focus in with the sigma 105 the hood puts the lens right upto the insect almost Knocking them off the flower!

lens hoods with digital cameras?

I know that they can stop a raging bull smash into your precious glass!!!

I also know that they are diffuclt to store attached in camera bag and fiddly to put on in a hurry

Are there times when you don't need them to shield out light rays?

Pentax sell the Al lenses without hoods so is it only expensive glass that needs the hood:

What do you think?
