Gwyn, I thought that the explanation might be as you say a simple centralisation.

Excellent shot by the way.

I went into a camera shop today to enquire about a pentax repair. The owner said that there is a problem with getting parts at the moment as Pentax is moving out of the UK! However, he did say that normal service will resume soon.

I presume that this is not a sign of impending doom, more a case of the global market place we are all part of. In some ways it does not matter where a business is located.

I am visiting the East Neuk area of Fife for a holiday soon. Has any one got any good places to recommend?

I registered all my cameras and lenses with the Pentax site but have not received any communication - neither offers or newsas the site states.

So we are all thinking the same way. A day on the hills does need a proper rucsack.

The gear I need to keep dry goes in drysacs - they come in all shapes and sizes.

What do you put the camera in: I have plenty of pouches, but the camera bags are all bulkly.

Stefan, as the others have said the k200d feels similar in size and weight to the K20 so that is not for me. The K7 is a thought prhaps I should save up and wait for the new releases and the usual reound of sales..

For now I think I will concentrate on how to the the K20 into the rucsack, well protected along with my other gear.

Many thanks for the replies. Special thanks to Stefan for his usual meticulous research, very useful!!!

Quite right I-Berg the context is important however I wanted unbiased opinion.

I have been thinking that I could do with something smaller (like my old DS) but weatherproof that could have a small prime (in ideal conditions) or the 18-55WR for using on long days in the UK hills ( ususally damp). I find that I tend not to take the K20 as it seems heavy.

The other problem is that the camera bag I have takes up a large amount of space in the rucsack. Ideally I would like a wrap for the camera such as those used for pentax lenses. I could then place the lot in a waterproof bag in my rucsack. Most camera rucsacks do not seem to have enough space for spare clothing, waterproofs etc.

Is the K200d much smaller and lighter than the K20d?

Stop off at Belsay Hall on the way up. Its excellent with its castle, semi derelict mansion and extensive grounds. Quite often there is an event or special exhibition on. Full details are on the English Heritage website.
