The old site was fairly simple and had a nice friendly feel. There were no adverts. The adverts are getting worse, flashing and quite distratcing at the moment. The advertising also seemed to reduce the space availble for text and photos on the screen.

The colour for the text boxes and the layout took a while to settle in and I think were adjusted quite a bit eventualy.

The competitions were upfront and not buried away as they are now. When you looked for new posts all the competetion entires came up in that search.

Strange as it may seem there were a great deal of disgruntled people at the change over and many people never returned.

This site is far more professional now and has a future as the advertising pays for it. We have excellent volunteer mods whom I think we should say a big thanks to.

I think that any make over should be done gently and carry us with it. Lat time it was lauched as the greatest thing since sliced bread. The new software then promptly locked many of us out of the forum

Ok I am almost at the stage of buying an Acer Ferrari cos it sounds cool

It also has and 11inch screen and quite a lot of memory and will last for a long time without upgrading. It seems to be a cross over between the netbook and small laptop

I still need to sort out two things in my mind:

1. I normally label photos on my pc in photoshop elemnts 7. What would be the best way of labelling and adding notes when out and about using the netbook? I would really like this to be in the meta data so that when I get home it can be seamlessly read using elements7


2. I am buying an orange dongle to access the internet with the netbook
They are offering 500mb a month for £5. In your experience is this enough for just generally surfing as research and not downloading music, large files etc?

As a small friendly community we did not need pictures to portray our inner beings to the whole world...

I miss the old forum before we had the last makeover. The whole thing was more personal, you could always find everything, we still had a real magazine, beer was 1/2p a pint with a pentax voucher and we never argued......

Thanks for digging these out again Stefan.

For those who don't know this a limestone pavement on at the top of a cliff edge.

On the day i was struck by the eerie flat lighting and the very white ice crystals on the top of parts of the pavement. The whole effect gave an interesting texture especialy as the foreground was not affected by the ice.
