I checked the thermometer in the garden. It was only -10. Wimp I thought as I went back inside and made a lovely hot coffee
I've just got to persuade the dog that he does not need any walks today

I think that the mono shot works reasonably well, it was my attempt to do less is more by removing the colour.
The difficulty, as always, is trying to catch a moment in time. I saw virtually no one on that 4 hour walk which was great. But how do you then convety the amazing natrual picture presented to you? The second photo will have to stay as memory jogger.
Note to myself must start carrying a tripod so that exposure can be increased.

I have received the 188 notice twice in the last 4 weeks. Once because my work is funded by external agencies and yesterday because the Council issued all its staff with one.
Oh well at least I don't have to save up to buy films and process them now I have got sd cards. My veg is in the garden, might have to start on the home brew again

Had a great day yesterday. Consolidated my knowlwedge and learned to look at the outdoors differently in terms of photographic possibilities. Ony six on the course all day. A noce freezing mist greeted me in the Langdales. Dave Willis ( the tutor for the day)was very helpful and supportive and played to our individual abilities. The afternoon session was when we teamed up with Alan Hinkes that was really good. He acted as our model for 'walking action' shots being left under our control once we had grasped the principles. I feel a lot more confident now.
I talked to some others who had done a workshop on climbing photography, they seemed impressed with their experience. The NASOP concept seems to be good with a wide range of tutors of differing knowledge, experience and styles. The organisation was only launched this week so I think that their website is well worth watching for further developments. They will be doing on line tutorials shortly as well as more workshops. They will also arrange spefic workshops for individual groups.
I will post some photos later if there any worthwhile ones.
