I know that Pentax have centralised their offices in Europe for the usual company reasons. Unfortunately this is really slowing repairs as parts are taking weeks to get to the uk repairers. I've been waiting 3 weeks now for my camera to be fixed. Apparently it will take the technician 20 mins to fix it when the parts arrive!!!!

Just in case you read this please, please pentax raise the standard of your after sales service, I'm losing valuable hobby time and losing patience....

There! I have had my moan. Luckily I have a back up camera and will be in the lakes tommorrow

Hello Alan, splendid idea. Its years since we did this.

Please can we avoid the predatory females we met last time? Its very difficult to get shots of the nice lights with a durnken wannabe fashion model stuck in front of your lens. They were more scary than the goths!

I have just started using the butterfly after struggling with the Pentax swab kit. Its the butterfly for me now, so easy and effective.

Unfortunately we do! The worst thing is the noise of the rescue helicopter which can ruin the tranquility of the day. The second worst thing is that the helicopters never come close enough for a really good shot

:ideaerhaps one of the new online articles could be about a safe approach to photography in the hills for those with little experience. I think that we have all been caught out or made a mistake at some stage. Some basics might help newcomers enjoy the delights of being on the tops with a camera.

(Pentax Dan are you there? Is it possible to organise this?)

Matt

Thanks for your suggestions above.

My comments regarding equipment were intended to be humorous in order to provoke banter I am reasonably experienced in walking on the fells in the Lake District.

ok I know I have loads of gear to carry on this course and as expected we are going up a lake district hill.

but

The going up the hill bit is with Alan Hinkes the first person to climb all the 14 of the worlds 8,000m nountains I hope he has a hang over and goes a little slowly.

I will tell you more on my return....

order K5 (good excuse), ebay for ccs waterproof holster/lens cases,

Flare gun is an excellent idea - what colour?

Oh no what lenses should I take? have to be 16- 50 as its waterproof or should I go light and cheap with 18 - 55 WR in case I fall?

Must get back to weight lifting to build up strength for carrying the gear

Well i've booked on for the Friday introductory day. I have been thinking for a while now that I should be out on the hills with a good camera, and not the point and shoot variety!

If I survive the great outdoors I will let you know! Must go and waterproof the boots, find the waterproof trousers, jacket, snow hat, gloves, crampons, ice axe, gps, huskie, canoe...... you never know what you might need...
