I have noticed that uppng the Saturation and Sharpening to the highest levels helps when I am shooting JPEGs.

RAW is definitely more flexible.

Thanks George I appreciate your help and the many other insights you have provided on this forum!

I'm still confused a little though....Is contrast control flash and slave flash essentially the same thing?

Or by contrast control are they only referring to the pop-up triggering a single slave? What's the difference between that and slave mode? (Multiple flashes, use of the hot shoe?)

I own a *-ist D and the AF360FGZ and also an AF330FTZ. I am trying to figure out how to use them together and understand flash better.

Can someone explain the difference between Contrast Control, Slave and Master Modes? And further how these can be practically used?

I understand the contrast control...the slave mode has me confused.

Can the AF360FGZ be used wireless without the built in flash?

Also when would high speed sync mode be used?

I would recommend a Pentax 100mm Macro F2.8 FA lens....great crisp clean images.

I found a used one at a great price. Couldn't be happier with it and it is perfect with the *ist-D

He could save some cash and buy one used. I have had great sucess dealing with KEH Camera in Georgia, USA. They have a couple D's for sale.

I personally love the accessory battery pack with vertical controls available for the *ist D. It make the camera feel more pro in my personal opinion. This option is not available with the DS or DL.

I resently bought a stroboframe flash bracket with the hopes of using it for Contrast Control flash.

I have a *ist D and a 300ftz flash unit (along with the cord & both hot shoe adapters).....

When I use the cameras pop-up flash and the 300ftz on the contrast control setting, I get lousy results...a fadded shadow behind the subject where the popup flash didn't fully compensate for the 300ftz.

Am I doing something dumb? or just not understanding how contrast control works?

Or do I need a flash unit with a bounce swivel head?

Would a Omni-bouncer help me?

Lotsa questions....

What is the MTF priority program for? I have no idea what M T F stands for MultiFlash? MultiFrame?

What do the other modes do? The charts are greek to me.

The Operating Manual is terrible! It's almost as bad as the Z-LX Manual but not quite. I love Pentax equipment but they really need to spend some time / money / effort into writing documentation! For an intermediate user (like myself) they need to simplfy.

Sorry for the rant, just venting.

Why would you ever turn it off? Does it effect shooting speed?
