Oh jeez ..... I thought this was a link / preview for this years Photokina show.

Sorry. Nothing new...

I was shocked to see a full frame version and 6 mps.

I apologize.

Here's my short list:

Automatic "pop-up + down" flash mode would be nice.

Wireless connectivity

Choice of different aspect ratios by cropping in camera (similar to the panoramic mode on the ZX5N

I liked the CF Card better on the *istD, like the dual card idea.

If there are no batteries in the grip on my *istD the vertical controls don't function.

Never tried it with no batteries in the camera and only the grip.

Do they function on yours in this configuration?

Just noticed that the DBG2 battery grip works on the K10D without having a battery loaded.

I am previously owned a DBG1 and the *istD where this was not the case.

Makes charging the second battery in the grip easier, since you don't lose the vertical controls.

Thanks Arthur...I appreciate the help.

Battery and Grip ordered. B&H was out of the batteries, ordered one at a good price from www.bestbatt.com.

I ordered the Grip from Adorama as you suggested. Ithink I got the last one in stock.

I received the camera and I love it already.

Where can I buy one?

The K10D seenms to be a really hot item, I had problems finding one to buy B+H sold out the first day, but just bought one from Cameta Camera to replace my *istD.

To me the battery grip is must, it makes the camera feel better in the hand, add the vertical release and lots of power/time. But right now it seems like it is unavailable. Where and when can I buy one in the US now?

Also, I have the power cord for the *istD will that work on the K10D?

Wish I could use rechargeable AA's, the DBG-1 grip and my CF Cards.....oh well. Gues that's the price of progress (10Mps, Shake Reduction, dust removal, etc.)

I am anxiously awaiting delivery of the body!

My personal preference for focussing is to disable the focus-on-half-press in the custom menu: "AF with press halfway - off" (it's quite a way down the custom menu). When I want to focus, I press the big AF button on the back. Now when I press the shutter, the camera doesn't "hunt" for a focus point. It takes a little getting used to, but is second nature now.
This is why I love this forum...everytime I visit there is something else I never considered! Great tip........I have missed what would have been some nice action pictures because of the "hunting lense"

Thanks Matt!

Just to chime in.....I own this lens and can confirm it works well with the *ist D, sharpness is great and CA is almost non-existent. Remember that with digital it is the equivalent of a 150 mm lens. Also it is worth noting that the lens is very heavy.

I bought the Sigma 10-20 EX DC for use my *ist D ($450US from BH Photo). It is a really nice lense, I usually stick with Pentax lenses but bought this one based on price and reviews I have read, it exceeds my expectations. It appears to be slightly wider than 12mm and the build quality is very good. IMO the sharpness of the lense is extremely good.

I would recommend it.....I guess I just did.
