Just so impressed with this beautiful set as a whole they are an example of great photo-craft and wonderful composition.

Fine on an on you k3 II but remember the perspective at 450 is equivalent to a very long telephoto when you combine the cropping factor for the APS x1.4 from the converter.

The field of view will be comparable to that of a lens of 945mm focal length ( if my old codger brain is still OK - if not please feel free to correct me)

But I have used the 1.4 x on the 150-450 with my K3II and if your camera and lens are well supported it’s optically ok for sure, but not ideal; bit like using an RPGL or carrying a extension ladder o your shoulder

Mine “one that got away” happened when I was fishing on the Rio Casiquiare in the Amazon at sun-up one morning; a recently born Jaguar cub drinking on the side of a muddy pool with the dried up umbilical cord still attached to his little pot belly; then the mother appeared and stood alongside the cub before lapping up the water herself.

I was thirty metres away in pool treading water with my nose just above the surface and as I tried to quietly move back they both stopped lapping staring right into my eyes; I just froze hoping she wasn’t going to slide into the water.

Still makes my skin crawl because an adult Jaguar can swim much faster and better than a Labrador and she was thinking about it.

I quietly disappeared below the surface and swam away under the water as fast as I could and as far as I could before quietly coming up for air, near my canoe; they were still transfixed but luckily she stayed with the little cub.

Good job I didn’t have a camera with me because that would have threatened her and then she likely would have come in after me.

I dared not leave the water because then she would have heard me in the undergrowth, I got into my little bongo and then paddled away as silently as possible.

I saw it in the box in a display cabinet where it said on the box it was a DA* , but your right, on USA and EU sites it shows it as a DA (as do reviews).

Maybe it is a Japanese version but if I go back to Kobe this week I will get it in my hands.

By the way everything is more expensive in Japan and in Osaka there were hardly any new Pentax items in the stores (lot’s of used though)

Saw this lens on display yesterday in a Pentax Dealership in Kobe Japan; has anyone had experience of it ?

I see it is on the Lens Roadmap as a DA but curiously it is designated as a DA* ( on the box and paperwork ) in Japan; Didn’t handle it though but the guy in the dealership assured me it is a DA*

I have not seen it on sale in the UK or am I missing something ???
