OK, thanks guys.
Just been down to the river to give the WG a thorough test (I always assume it's me) the dynamic range (abysmal), inability to make it focus where you want, no raw, tiny lens area, all make it ridiculously difficult to use. It is definitely no better (possibly worse) than my iPhone in a bag. I've certainly used more images from the iPhone.
That ewa-marine U-AX seems the business. I've seen these before so it's good to get a thumbs up here.
I simply don't trust any small camera to deliver, so it looks like when I've sold my 17-70 that money is already spent

Anyone got any experience with this?
Despite living by the sea and lots of lovely rivers, I'm still not having any joy with the WG series (any of the 3 I've owned).
I think it's a combination of tiny lens, too easily obscured by water droplets, dodgy low light ability (and DR) and completely random focus.
I think a big ol' lens and the K5 would transform my chances.

Hardly used because the zoom mechanism was damaged in an accident when very new; lens came back from Pentax, repaired and tested yesterday. The repair is guaranteed for 6 months.
This lens is quite possibly better than new (better quality control and tolerances). I've tested it myself and it required no fine adjustment on my K5.
Pictures on request, but this is a bit pointless really.
Box has minimal scuffing.
While the lens was sitting on the shelf, I bought a Tamron and 50-135 so I don't need it anymore.
Grab an as-new bargain for £240

Nice rich colours; I like all except number 2.
Last one wins it for me.
Number two is spoilt by the recovered(?) sun.
First one is a challenging scene, handled well. I have no problem with dense shadows - that's what woods are about

It's nice and sharp.
I think I would try F5.6 and iso200 to make the background less busy. 320th is pretty safe.
Then wait till evening or a slightly overcast day to help with the contrast.

Been waiting for this lens to appear.
Looking forward to seeing some shots.
And thoughts from owners regarding the focusing, which I am a bit worried about in view of my own experiences with the 85 1.4

someone will pop up soon and tell me I should go get a K5 then I can massively underexpose and just whack up the shadows wildly on the computer
Dear me, Nigel, you are really developing a chip on your shoulder.
The last thing these images need is more processing. Least of all more lightening of shadows, more killing off contrast in localised areas and even deeper halos.
I find all the images uncomfortable to look at. Harsh, bright and over-processed.
Sorry, I didn't want to contribute to this thread, because I couldn't be positive. But when you started your inevitable back-chat, I couldn't help myself

Fast, sharp, versatile, small. One of the best-value lenses out there

Number 4 is absolutely stunning. 3 dimensional.

Just came back from sports day where I had my subjects running towards me then across the frame. Pretty simple stuff, so I decided to let the af.c have a go and took 3 or 4 single shots. We'll see...
