If the navigation was at the top of the page, you'd be forever scrolling back and forth to view the pictures anyway.
At least you would know it was there...
Why start by essentially disabling the site?

Exactly Andrew.
For this reason you should never put important navigation at the bottom of the page.
Daniel's example looks nice, but the gallery navigation would still be lost on some monitors - it should be at the top.

Can we include fruit?
Can it be any vegetable matter? (you used the word 'healthy', so I guess not)
...both my ideas are a little on the edge of the brief.

your frameset code should look something like this:
frameset rows="80,*,80" frameborder="NO" border="0" framespacing="0"

note the fixed height of the top and bottom frames and the relative height of the content frame.

Brian, although the site looks good I think you should redesign the top image (map) so that the links and strap-line are alongside the logo.
This will help enormously. If that isn't enough, I can have a look at the code, but the frames make it difficult for me to reproduce it here. You may have to zip it up and send it to me.
It's years since I used frames but you should be able to set them to a fixed size.

in a nutshell, the site can only be viewed properly (without the content obscuring the menu) if the viewer's browser window is at least 950 pixels, including all the menus and tools. Lots of laptops and new-fangled wide-screens would struggle with that.

Most monitors can handle wide sites so you could put your navigation along side the logo instead of underneath.

Brian, I can't see any reason to use either frames or iFrames. Both are bad for SEO and create numerous other problems.
I would place all the code on one page and use DIVs or even a good ol' table to hold the content.
if you want to avoid changing multiple instances of the menu then put that into a 'server-side include' - like a library for code that is used often.

If your iFrame is holding content from another site, then you probably have to keep it this way.

I've never had to say it
But in my head, I say: bockay (with a 'c') mainly because I don't want it so sound like a bunch of flowers.

I understood it was a made up word originating in Japan.
