These are really funny. It's amazing how much time footballers spend thinking something is really going to hurt!

Judging by how much dirt Sir Alf Ramsay is kicking up in 7 it did hurt

Great shots, and good to see it was done on a 'normal' lens.

Absolutely!
But Paul, you're wrong about the insane bit

Personally, I care! I just don't necessarily agree.
I did forget to congratulate you on the recognition of your images Paul. seriously, well done.
I think davex is right and you are distracting people with your rhetoric.

I am definitely cynical

I am fullly aware of those that choose to be homeless
I actually asked whether you would be documenting this other side?

Its a knife's edge if you say so. Is that a good reason not to do what i'm doin' then?
I wasn't suggesting, 'don't do it because it was a moral knife edge', I was saying be careful of your motivation etc. I think you are, so that's fine.

I have stated that Crisis are on board
Very worthy bunch I'm sure (far too cynical, I agree) the idea of some earnest media luvvie buying a picture of one of these guys to show how caring they are makes me recoil - I know, I know... too cynical. I wonder if they take it down again after the dinner party... "stop it Mark"

I'm not sticking the knife anywhere, I'm just not going to sit back and accept all this on face value. Some of those guys have more than us in a lot of ways. I'm sure most people out there have wanted to leave the rat-race and find themselves.
It takes a lot more than comfort, wealth and good health to make a society.

yep, I have all that Matt, they are all 47s tho', not 50s
I went for the .47uF for the time limit.
The shop was out of some things - looks like I overlooked the 10uF when I went back.
I'm using variable resisters for both 1Ms (due to stock)
and the SCRs are CP106D

I am making the trigger circuit too, which reminds me - I ground to a halt deciding which infra red receiver to go with the LD271 Infra red Emitter (which I guessed at - this may be wrong).
I might try a laser later, if this lot works

When this was introduced someone had the brilliant idea to claim childrens allowance. He had no kids, but he had the equipment to potentially have some Needless to say, he didn't get the allowance.
that's brilliant, tickled me that did

I'm drawn to the out of focus stubble on his top lip.
Will you be documentin' the guys that choose to be homeless? Even a homeless guy can find a bit of string and do his shoe laces up, but I bet that just isn't cool.

'strikes me you have a captive subject with these guys and it would be easy to take the moral high ground when actually you may just be furthering your photographic career?
I reckon it's a knife edge you are on there Paul.
Obviously you won't agree...

I've just noticed I still haven't bought the 10uF! so it's a good job you started discussing it. Cheers!

so they are negative signs?
I have just realised that the black one has 63V written on it. Is this max volts? will it be ok as my .5 capacitor marked 'C' above?

And good old SCRs for the outputs ... you will only need low power versions of those
Is this because the K10 and Metz flash are both low voltage?
I've got two CP106D thyristors (rated to 400v) is this OK?

I managed to pick up almost everything locally, but it's a bloody minefield! all the different permutations and the circuit I'm using is a bit old fashioned so I'm not totally sure the new versions I've bought are appropriate....
Anyway, my most pressing problem is the polarity of the capacitors, as I understand some get a bit teasy if they're the wrong way round. the black one below has what seems to be negative signs down one side, is this the negative pole?
I assume the yellow one doesn't matter?
