Came across this

Does anybody use them?

Are they any use on a K200d?( considering that the sensor doesn't always sit level!)

Got one of these a couple of years ago free with a photography mag. Don't think I've even used it yet.

Hi i've used one of these for a while now they come in handy for landscapes horizons etc.

I use mine all the time when doing landscape shots on a tripod. Doesn't guarantee 100% accuracy, but it's a lot better, a lot of the time, than judging by eye.

At least for me.

So for landscapes they seem to work.

I've tried using the framing lines in the view finder and still get wonky shots, might just order one to try at these prices.

Thanks everybody.

There is also something called a Digital Action Level by Seculine which has a system of LEDs. Green for level and red and amber either side for nearly straight or nowhere near! They are on ebay for about £27 but you can get them cheaper, I've had mine for a few months and it is very useful.

Hope this is of some help to you.

I use a spirit level when using a tripod, just to get it near. Final adjustments then done through the viewfinder.

I tend to do it the other way round. I get my composition as I want it, check the level and adjust if necessary, then check the compostion again, then level again. I'm usually happy by then.

You may have a totally level camera & your photo can still look off to the eye. Usually due to the lie of the land. Unless you're shooting out to sea of course !

Well, that is occasionally true, in which case I would use my eye. Usually though, I find I prefer the look of a pic with a level camera.

I've had one for years - use it quite a bit and it's always in the bag. One of the few gadgets that is handy *and* cheap.

Used one for a long time. Started off when I had to record inscribed stones that were wonky and we wanted the image to be straight to show how wonky it was. Use it for landscapes and buildings.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Mine used to permanently on the camera but since having a Pentax-LL-80-Divided-Matte-Focusing-Screen I find I never look at it now. Might take it off

This is a very handy spirit level for photographers made by BMI Germany, can be used for plumbing uprights and centre columns as well. Proper vial and can be used on all sides. I got mine from B&Q, but the only place I can find them now is here I've never bought anything from york survey so I don't know if they have a minimum order.

I belive the Nikon D 200 has both a level and a grid built into the cameras menu. I have always felt this would be a nice feature that pentax might also add to it's cameras. Its sometimes tricky getting sea scapes and similar level and true in the veiw finder..
