All shots with K10D. Was one of the few that used a tripod, but that did allow some nice long exposures.

But there aren't any shadows in your pics, so the sun must have been behind one of the few clouds.

Glad you've got the root of the problem, anyway.

According to Pentax literature, it's weather proof.

I've had my K10D resting on the surface of a puddle, with the door to the cable release in the water, as well as in heavy rain for prolonged periods. It's always been fine.

Oh, now thats tempting.
I was thinking of you when I posted it Mike.

I told myself when the K-7 first came out that I'd get it when I could get the camera and grip for under £1000. Still haven't bought it though...

Was looking on the Cameraworld website earlier, noticed that they've got the K-7 twin lens kit with grip for £999. Apparently it's only while stocks last, and they're not a pro dealer anymore (as far as I know), so only 1 year warranty (but worth checking).

Also, the descriptions of the lenses doesn't mention they're WR ones, but I've checked and have been told they are. But again, buyer beware, so check yourself!

I think you mean Sv and TAv mode. Just about all the DSLR have a "P" (dumb) mode.
you sure, isn't that green mode, I can be so wrong with this
Indeed Stefan, you're wrong. I can't think of an DSLR that doesn't have P,A,S and M modes.

ps. I'm sure if I ask a new Pentax user how to set the build-in flash to trailing curtain that they know how to find it.
I'm sure if you ask a new Pentax user how to set the built-in flash to trailing curtain, they're very unlikely to have a clue what you were talking about. They might find it if they knew how to adjust the flash settings, but I think you're over-estimating any new users knowledge or comprehension of some of the subtler aspects of photography. From experience I've found no-one new to DSLRs who's got the faintest idea of trailing curtain synch and why you might use it, let alone where to find it.

I'd be there if I wasn't working that day.

Hope it goes well, will have to come over and see the new shop soon. Actually, going to Hemel Hempstead tomorrow, wonder if the wife would mind a short detour...

I think you may find you can't get the camera low enough to the ground in a comfortable position with that tripod, because of the short section that protrudes underneath even when the centre column's horizontal. You'd have to have the column pointing downwards, and then getting the head at the right angle is a pain (I think).

I really do use my 055ProB flat on the floor an awful lot for macros, you won't be able to do that with the Giottos.

Just my opinion.

Only my DA*300mm regularly has a lens cap on it, when stored in my bag it has the hood reversed and both caps in place. However, the 16-45, mounted on the camera, has a Cokin polariser fitted and no cap, the Sigma 105mm has a hood and no cap, as does the FA50mm.

I have a rocket blower to hand to remove any dust that may have settled on the lens, but I can't be doing with removing caps every time I switch lenses, and they're pretty well protected, with the hoods fitted and their own compartments in the bag.
