I failed to mention that as I was a bit strapped for cash, all the hardware was stripped from a Westone bass that was knocking about.

10 instruments eh? I feel a ram-raiding trip to the guitar shop is in order.

Anyway, if we're talking one-upmanship, who's flaunting pics from their shiny new K10D, while some of us are stuck with their old istD's...

Very handsome Brian (the Gibson, not you ).

I'll have to sort out a pic of my bass for you - fretless, birds-eye maple neck, wenge body, bubinga fretboard, handmade. By me (I studied guitar making full-time for four years after leaving school - turned out I wasn't good enough to do it for a living though. Did meet the Mrs. there though, so something good came out of it).

Your 'product' shot looks nice - good textures in it, colours look natural. I'm starting to get jealous of all of you with K10Ds.

By the way Brian, how often do you wear that stuff?

...Back on thread - I've no idea whether they have stock, or whether they've just got the lens listed for when they do, but it's worth a ring. The Sigma lenses don't say anything about stock held as far as I can see.

Well, it's listed on the website at least - haven't spoken to Chris. I'd replied mainly because it's the first time I've seen the 70mm listed in Pentax fit.

It may well be that they're still awaiting stock, I don't know. Sorry if I've built your hopes up.

Not sure where abouts you are javam, but srs-microsystems in Watford have them in stock:

Also have the 105mm which I'm very pleased with.

You know, I Googled it, and only came up with something to do with Basketball coaches and Spam filters...

It didn't twig that John had a rule all of his own. Should we add it to Wikipedia?

Hi Paul,

Ffordes have the Tamron instock at the moment (www.Ffordes.com), £169 in E++ condition (can never remember the +'s refer to the amount of wear or the pristineness of the lens ). Don't know what the postage would be (or you could pick it up if you're near Inverness!).

Hi Paul,

I use the Sigma 105 and find it a great lens, got some results I'm really pleased with, and there are a few examples on this forum in previous posts. I've heard only good things about the Tamron, and everyone seems to like the Pentax models too, especially the 200mm, if you could stretch to that.

Two good aspects of the Sigma are price (especially secondhand - mine was £90) and build quality (being an EX lens, they're nice and solid).

Mine's not a 'DG' lens, but I've not had any problems with my digital camera (istD).

Extension tubes are a cheaper option, and produce great results with say a 50mm lens, but they're not as versatile as a macro lens, as you often have to add or subtract a tube when you recompose.

Hope that helps,
Dan

Brian,

It's a tricky situation - leave negative feedback (like a fair few others have) and you're sure to get some back, and when you've got 100% positive, that's not what you want.

However, the sale of counterfeit goods isn't allowed on ebay (http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/replica-counterfeit.html) so you could let ebay know what you received, with your photographic evidence, and let them deal with it.

At least one other customer of theirs got a fake card, but remember the majority of people wouldn't know a fake one if they got it, so who's to say how many others have one.

I think I'd bite the bullet, leave neg feedback, or at least neutral (something like "Counterfeit memory card supplied, got refund", pass the details to ebay, and if you get negative feedback in return, ask ebay to cancel it.

But that's easy for me to say.
