To be honest, my post above was tongue-in-cheek - I doubt I'll be contacting Pentax as I'm perfectly happy with my lens.

Only thing is a bit of vignetting at 200mm at f/5.6, but soon disappears when you close down a stop, but to be honest, for a lens at this price you'd expect a lot worse than this little beauty!

Oh that's just great - there I was, perfectly happy getting good quality shots with my lens, and now all of a sudden I'm wondering if it's as good as it should be!

Typical.

Perhaps I'll get in touch with Pentax.

Just took a quick snap of the front of mine, this is really close up so the rough edge is really noticeable, but it sounds as though it's the same as yours. Mine works fine, but I can't compare the construction of it to the kit zoom, I don't have one.

I just assumed it was how it should be.

Hi Tony,

Just had a quick look, bit confused by the '20mm f/4' with picture of an 85mm f/2. Although I notice there is a photo of it with it's case.

I've used the 18-35 on my MZ-5n - although you can't directly control the aperture, I have done so by varying the shutter speed until the required aperture is selected by the camera (i.e. Shutter priority, and keep an eye on the aperture value shown in the viewfinder).

Not ideal, but depending on your subject type (landscapes, macro, anything that doesn't move about) it's fine.

I think it would be a fine line between killing the spores and melting your lens.

I can't believe they're selling them (or trying to) at this price. The RRP for the kit is £749, body only £649. I still think it's so they can have them in their sale with '£150 off!' and still be selling them at the same price as everyone else.

Cameraworld in Chelmsford have them in stock too, the grip also. Had a play last week after doing some christmas shopping. Felt nice and solid to me, looks no worse or better than most other current DSLRs (although much better than the cheaper Canons in my opinion).

Guessing N is 'normal', ST is 'Short Telephoto' and T is 'Telephoto'. When you say the 'extension settings', do you mean you have to move the head out to the 'N' position? In which case, the non-extended position is the wideangle one.

But I am just guessing.
