What on earth are you shooting?!?

I don't see that it should be a problem for the camera, but there are a couple of things to bear in mind.

Why are you using 6Mp? Just for the extra storage space? If not, use 10Mp and have the extra leeway for cropping if needs be, or printing bigger than A4. No problem printing at A4 and bigger from my old istD, so can't see that there's a worry there.

Power. Haven't got the manual to hand, but I reckon you'd get at least 600 6Mp jpegs on a 2Gb card, so to fill 7Gb worth you'll be taking 2100 pics. More than a battery or two can handle, so you'll need a power supply.

What are you shooting?

Hi Chris,

Nice shot! I always find the built in flash too harsh, but it's done a good job here. Diffusing would even out those bright highlights, not sure why you were getting over-exposure when you tried it. Having said that, I always diffuse a hotshoe mounted manual flashgun, so can't comment on the ins and outs of P-TTL.

What was your exposure (aperture, shutter and ISO)? Just curious as there's some movement in the front left leg, it looks transparent, but I'm guessing it moved during the exposure. Then that means that the ambient light must have been quite high.

NOW will you stop worrying that your Pentax isn't sharp enough?!? And that's with the cheap kit lens!

anyone want a Canon 10D and Sigma EX 300mm F2.8?

Oh, sorry, were you serious?

Dan

P.S. Haven't got any 'odd' lenses, but my special lens would have to be my Sigma 105mm macro. Just can't imagine life without it!

That's not a great price, that's a fantastic price, assuming it is the same as the Pentax (by which I mean SMC). Even if it's 90% the lens the Pentax is, it will still be a great addition to your kit. Mine (Pentax) cost £170 nine months ago.

Amazon - but it's £215

Or, and I can hardly believe it, Jacobs, at £49.99.

Don't know how soon you'll get it, but it's apparently in stock.

If I'm looking for a lens, I tend to try Googling it.

I love Pentax too but lets face it they dumped its loyal fans for ages until it brought out the K series cameras.
Nothing wrong with the istD, DS or DL was there? I was more than happy with my D and I see you have one too.

Seems a bit of an odd statement to make. Unless you mean they weren't bringing out radically different models every 3 months, but I don't think they really needed to.

Sort of wish I hadn't bothered. Was attracted by the pretty butterfly on the cover, and the fact it was a macro special.

Didn't get anything useful from it though.

The Canon was listed as £350, the Pentax at £399. So I can understand the 'value for money' rating at face value, but when you look at the resolution chart I think "I'd rather spend £100 more for that".

But the 'performance' rating is the one that beggars belief. Incredible!
