...most Pentax slrs wouldn't have the necessary power supply to the lens.

...and a "Mer ristmas" to you too!

That second one looks like an ugly fish.

It's fun just taking the one lens out sometimes isn't it? And the 50 1.4 is great for it.

My friend decided on Monday to order himself a K10D with 16-50mm. Saw him today with his new camera and lens, it was the last one they had apparently, and he had to do a bit of ringing round, but they are still out there...

Not sure what this is but very nice colours
Think it might be a Leptocoris species nymph. Yes, nice colours.

I like the spider shot, reminds me of something we saw up in the Blue Mountains, in a lodge we stayed in - scurried about on the wall above the bed - gave us the heebie-jeebies!

When they did my road I was amazed how quickly it got done - although it took about 2 months before all the white lines appeared again.

Aj, I thought you meant it was the first lens you put on your camera (or the one that's always on there, so it's your prime lens - for me the 16-45). Having read the article, I see it's slightly different to that, and I'll quote it:

"When the camera lens is used with some other optical device, such as a close-up lens or tele converter, the camera lens itself is properly called the prime lens. That is really all the term "prime lens" means -- whether it's fixed focal length or zoom makes no difference."

If that's true, then I think you can safely say the meaning has evolved since that was the case, and is generally now regarded as meaning a fixed focal length lens.

Interesting though.

Stopping eating to take the shot? That's the one thing that looked odd about his shot, the knife and fork are too clean...

Well done Peter, very well deserved win, and good concise judging aj! I was quietly confident when I posted my pic, but by the close I didn't think I'd be in the top three.

...are those crumbs on the mat deliberate?
Yes and no - they appeared as I worked my way through the slice, but I prefered them being there so I left them.

By the way George check out Dans Marmite entry and my Vegemite entry and tell me again which one is weak and watery
Clarky, note that you need a half inch layer of vegemite, whereas more than a couple of millimetres of marmite can make your eyes water. I think the two pics illustrate that quite well.
