When I got out to the car this morning, shoved my bag on the backseat and saw this ice pattern on the rear side window:

Not as nice as Paul's, but I liked it. This was looking out from the back seat.

That's a really weird effect, certainly quite abstract shots.

Tell you what, pop round my house and clean my car, I'll let you know if I get the same patterns in the morning.

Just as a thought, have you tried cleaning the contacts between the body and grip. One of these must be the one to activate the focus, so it might be that there's a bit of dirt fouling the connection.

Worth a try.

No problems with mine, sounds as though the switch in yours is definitely faulty. I use mine quite a lot.

But the shutter will be infront of the sensor and filter. Any dust that would get attracted would be behind the shutter, and therefore would not be increased by having the lens removed.

The reason given for turning the camera off before a lens change is usually that the sensor is charged when the camera is on, therefore more likely to attract dust, and with the lens off there's more chance for dust to get in.

I don't understand the logic there, as the sensor is behind the shutter, which would be an effective barrier to any dust. If the sensor were exposed all the time, I would understand.

Anybody got any thoughts?

...and my entry was more about the 'weight' of the object than the light falling on it. Although I do quite like the light falling on it.

I'm guessing ChrisA must be away, because I was sure someone would say something like "How can you have a photography competition with the theme of 'light'?". Seems even more of a fundamental aspect of photography than 'My Day' was.

But I suppose there's more room for interpretation with this one.

By the way, that was taken in October near Malham in Yorkshire, just west of the Tarn, here. Quite surreal to drive round the corner of a hill and see a 20' bikini-clad woman swimming above the moor.
