Yes, you should know better than to try to enjoy yourself.

Guess we'll be seeing more of you around here for a while then. Any nice views out the window?

My local shop which is just around the corner from where I live (quickly becoming a magnet for my purse ha , and the shop assistant being exceptionally helpful and friendly) they are selling for £189.00.

So here are my options: Tamron 70-300 for £79 and add the FA50/1.4 for £159 (no cashback offer on this one) totals £239

or

Pentax 55-300 for £164 (after the cashback) and add the FA50/1.4 for £159 Totals £323
Hmmm, local shop, exceptionally helpful and friendly staff, and those prices... I'm guessing you live in Watford!

Bloomin good job I don't, I wouldn't have any money left.

Well, the one I saw at Cameraworld was white.

I tried one in there the other week, just to see what it felt like. Compared to my K10D, it did feel small, but it obviously is compared to that. The thing I thought was odd about it was that the focus point didn't illuminate to tell you which one the camera had picked, so if you were using the auto-selection mode, you wouldn't know for sure if the camera had chosen the best focus point for your subject.

I know many people would select the point themselves, but even so...

I expect Sony are selling their entry level DSLRs at a loss, just to get on their way to global domination. We've already seen that they're prepared to 'buy' cabinets in Jessops (the store in Basildon to me they should only be displaying Canon and Sony, but have chosen to put Nikon in there too becasue they'd be daft not to), and running at a loss on the bodies to get people into their system may well be a risk they're prepared to take.

I really don't think Pentax is in that situation.

Regarding the K2000, you can now order the UK version (K-m) in WHITE from Park cameras!

If you really want too.
Saw one in Cameraworld yesterday too. Certainly stood out.

But with the weak pound we are likely to see the prices in technology goods (cameras etc.) go up
I was in Cameraworld in Chelmsford yesterday, and the staff were looking through the list of price rises which are due to take effect on the 15th. Average was about 15%, one example was a rise from £16 to £21.

That was all manufacturers, not specifically Pentax.

They were also saying that Jessops were struggling, and that they (Cameraworld) hadn't sold a Canon 450D for a few weeks, because Jessops round the corner were selling them at £20 below cost price. It just isn't worth CW trying to compete with that, and I think they'd be daft to.

Excellent expression, I like the black and white treatment, and it looks beautifully sharp.

With a shot this good, it's a shame you didn't spend longer cloning out/masking the background (was it really that bad?). To me it spoils it somewhat, with the slightly blurry bits on the top of his head, and the 'scooped' out bits (his ear, and fur). A bit more work with the background, or simply burning it in instead, would be in order if it was my shot, because I think it's worth it.

You already have a pretty good all-rounder lens in the 18-250mm.

My advice is to wait, use what you have, then decide which focal length you might want to use.
Wise words. Don't feel you have to buy a lens just because you've got £350 burning a hole in your pocket. You probably will, but...

The FA50mm f/1.4 is a superb lens that I'm sure you'd be more than happy with for years to come, it is good for portraits, low light shots, flowers, all sorts really. But in a couple of months time you might decide you really enjoy macro photography, and that £350 will come in really useful then to get yourself a great macro lens.

Wait and see...

If you mean to have the link in your signature, like I have, then you click the 'my settings' link top right, then click 'profile information', then add any text you want in the 'Signature' box.

You could have something like:

See my Picasa Album.

When you replace the bit after the = sign with the proper URL copied when you're at the page you want to link to, it should work fine.
