Shooting through perfectly clean clear glass should have no detrimental affect when there is no glare. Small spots of dirt on the glass slightly reduces sharpness; greasy smears more so.
A polarising filter sometimes helps with reflections and glare.
I've always noticed a lack of contrast in shots taken through the window, but this can be rectified to a large extent on the computer afterwards.
If you can avoid shooting through glass, you're better off. Just open the window or patio door enough to get your lens through, the birds will soon get used to it.

You and I are on here Dan so it's a start.
Is Essex infested with the dreaded Nikon Bug then?
On my workshops I tend to find probably about 50% Canon, 40% Nikon, and 10% 'others'.

Restricting sales to people near Stanford-le-Hope is rather shooting yourself in the foot, I should have thought.

The Km was released only a short while ago. All new models are overpriced to start with and take a few months to settle.

So, what are you then?...a pentax dealer of just a 'fanboy'?
Anyway, I thought you were nearer Chelmsford, so that's why I assumed you'd been to Cameraworld. It's Bywaters in Waltham Cross (Digital Camera Exchange on the net), and I've not been there. Just looked them up on their website, and you're quite right, £349 for the K200D, and £379 for the K-m - obviously overpriced, but that's down to the retailer (and the margin they want) rather than Pentax, to a certain extent at least.
Added to this the SLR is my most disliked camera.
...no flipping mirror...

I've just traded the SDHC 4GB for two SD 2GB's.
