I'll have to try some comparisons between the K 120/2.8 and M 135/3.5, see where it fits into that table. I think more in terms of where I'll be using the lens when choosing which to take on the day - if there's a risk of it getting soaked or bashed I take the 135mm, if it's a dry sunny day and I won't be venturing near anywhere hazardous to lenses I take the 120mm as it would be almost impossible to replace for the same money. Both my examples are pretty minty with little or no dust and no evidence of abuse by previous owners.

It was Ivor the Engine and Fireman Sam up here in Wales.

I love how Shaun the Sheep has managed to retain the same sense of humour as the original Wallace and Gromit film which spawned the character. Some of it makes very little sense whatsoever but is utterly hilarious as a result!

As for apparently changing size, it may have just changed its angle compared to you. Consider the different appearance of an airliner head-on, from the side, and from above or below.

I once stayed on a campsite near an RAF base. A couple of large aircraft took off at night. The spooky part was that you'd see these lights moving silently, then the noise would hit you as the aircraft turned. If you were far enough away it'd be easy to see this large shape moving silently and in an odd way rather than identifying it.

A recent attempt by the local tabloids to start a UFO flap here was rather squashed when someone pointed out that the video looked like someone messing about with a torch in their basement, and that the location mentioned had a perfect line of sight for an Army artillery range which frequently fired star shells at night...

Is AF such a must have with very wide lenses? DoF will ensure everything is sharp so you could look at the Samyang 14mm for around £250
I'm intrigued by that one too, but it seems to have mixed reviews. The Samyang 85mm (which I have) was almost universally adored by testers, even when some were clearly desperate not to let it beat CaNikony lenses costing four or five times as much in the final result. I'm very happy with mine, even if I'm planning to use it for motorsport rather than the conventional portrait use!

The 14mm has apparently been redesigned in response to early criticisms but one review suggested that while the initial flaws had been corrected there were some new flaws in the redesigned lens. I'd love one as it's a 14mm full frame prime with an aperture ring (perfect given I have a substantial collection of Pentax 35mm bodies), but £250 is a fair bit of money considering this uncertainty.

Surely a tennis racket would be threatening to break Murray's legs unless he pays up?

Oh, there'll be heating on for a while yet. I just think it might have reached the point where the radiator can cope (in the depths of winter one room would be freezing as the radiator in there is tiny compared to the rest). I always suspect the last owner obtained them from the back of a poorly-secured lorry load as he was known locally as a bit of a dodgy property developer (owned a lot of flats with some very rough tenants who provided the local Police with a fair bit of "trade", according to a reliable source).

The plumbing is a law unto itself with everything from 25mm pipe down to microbore in the same system and masses of adapters. Amazingly it doesn't leak so we're not inclined to fiddle too much, the last plumber who got involved couldn't figure out what on earth was going on so just resorted to moving the pipes (to make way for the new shower) before reconnecting them as before!

Light cloud here, we can see it but just as a fuzzy white blob. I did get a couple of shots yesterday though.

This really is not a good weekend for Pentax. It looks as though Dad's K7 needs to go back under guarantee as the front thumbwheel doesn't work (well it does...but I think shutter speeds are supposed to go down as you turn it one way, not drop three stops then climb two!)

Think this might be the last fire of the year unless it goes cold again, had clear skies and sun most of the day. Bit of a drastic shortage of logs too...

It's odd, but I'd be torn between the black and titanium finishes if I could afford any FA Ltd lenses. The titanium makes it very obvious that you have something special, but the black is likely to be rarer in years to come judging by the few used examples I see for sale.

I think that's probably what he'll have to do - I've just tried reprogramming it to switch the function of the two wheels and sure enough it is the front wheel at fault. The shutter speed dialled up and down as expected using the rear wheel (but aperture jumped everywhere using the front).
