Got to agree with Yves if your serious about your printing and do a reasonable amount then the colour munki is the Rat's Pyjamas.
However if your using a third party for your printing then they should print exactly to your file spec.

Mmmm,
I have had a similar problem using Lee 10stop filters.
Then I fitted the viewfinder cap and it all went away.
Also streaking caused by poor sensor cleaning.
As has been suggested try a 'wet'clean.
I have only had the K5's for a few months but I have had exposures of three, four and almost five minutes and had no signs of sensor overheating.

Gwyn, Thanks for the link I've had a very informative half an hour or so, and bookmarked the sitr.
I will keep looking tonight, just in case.

I have to say that if you are using a flat screen monitor you need to re calibrate it every month at the very least.
We do our two iMacs and the Macbook Pro's every week.
Even so if you are only concerned with one monitor/printer then it's money well saved on wasted ink and paper.
And yes, yes they do "wander off setting" our experience tells us that if we don't have a strict calibration regime then we get off colour prints. Not good when a bride wants more copies of an image already delivered.

What sort of time is best. We thought we might see them last night on the Isle of Skye but no luck.

I can't really narrow it down to one lens, but more of a 'holy trinity' the 16-50mm the 50-135mm and the 15mm.
I intend sooner rather than later to hire the 200mm DA and see how it performs.

The vast majority of DSLR owners very rarely go near their cameras.

Writing as one who was awarded a "commended" in last years 'Take a View' and the image was published in the book. This year I had three images go through to the final judging but failed to go any further. I too noticed this year that there are a couple of images taken with a Pentax.
Another point, the image that was commended last year is also one of our best sellers. Thoroughly destroying my theory that an image that does well in photographic competitions rarely sells commercially.
I get an equal buzz whether an image sells well commercially (so does my bank manager) or whether it does well in FIAP approved international salons. If an image does well in both scenarios then I feel I must be doing something right.

I sometimes look in the Trade and Enthusiast magazines and wondr just what some judges saw in winning images or conversely what they criticise.
